Lesson plan Date: Grade: 7 Theme:Stories Stage/Aim Lead-in: To introduce the topic, to create interest Pre- reading: To activate schemata, to practice predicting Pre- teaching vocabulary: To facilitate reading Reading for gist: To develop reading for gist skills Reading for details: Procedure -With books closed, ask SS if they enjoy reading stories they are reading stories. Ask what stories they are reading at the moment. -Ask what they think makes a good story, F.e: what makes a story exciting. -SS look at the picture and describe the picture, express their opinion about the picture - Explain that SS are going to listen to a conversation. Tell them to read through the questions and the options before they listen. -Play the CD. SS listen and choose the correct answers Ex 1. Check the meaning of the words in the box. Then look at the picture and predict which words will appear in the text. Wolves bears castle cottage howling roar coach train taxi -Look at the picture with the class. Explain that they are all events described in the conversation, but that they are in the wrong sequence. -Play the CD again. SS listen and arder the pictures. Ex 2. Read and listen to the text. Check your answers to exercise 1 -Play the CD. SS listen again more carefully and complete the sentences with the words from the conversation. Remind SS that they may need to use more than one word.
