Charles Lutvidge Dodgson (1832 – 1898) is a better known under the penname of Lewis Carroll, as the author of two great books for children – Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and Through the Looking – Glass (1871). His main job, however, was mathematics. At the same time he was a brilliant writer of fiction and essays.

The history of creating book about Alice is very interesting. In 1856 Dodgson became close friends with the Liddell family. They had three daughters: Lorina, Edith and Alice. The girls liked to listen to Dodgson’s story. The idea got into his head after a boat trip with the girls. The prototype of the main character is Alice Liddell, one of the sisters. But Lewis Carroll denied this fact. Let’s revise the plot and mail characters of the story.
