Seasons.

1.       Summer.

      The best thing about living in a country that has four seasons is summer. Everyone looks forward to it. Summer is a time when we have picnics in the park and the sky is always blue. I go to the beach a lot in the summer and go hiking. It can never get too hot. I live in a country where summers are nice. I’m not sure if I could live somewhere where summers are unbearable. I like shopping for summer clothes. I usually wait until autumn when summer clothes are on sale. They’re not really in fashion for the next summer, but I don’t care. One thing I don’t understand about summer is summer holidays. Everyone I know goes to a warm country in the summer. That’s crazy. It’s warm here. Why not go to a warm country in the winter?

      2. Autumn.

       Autumn is such a cool time of the year. Of course it is cool because the temperatures drop after summer. But it is also cool because it’s such a great time of the year. I love the changing of the leaves. The different autumn colours are one of nature’s most beautiful scenes. Sometimes I can’t stop looking at the mountains near my house. They are like an artist’s palette of golds, reds, yellows, browns and other autumnal colours. In America they call autumn ‘fall’ because that is when the leaves fall from the trees. I like the coolness of autumn. Summer is over but you can still wear a T-shirt – just about. You can also spend hours outdoors without sweating. Autumn is the best time of the year to go hiking and go for long walks.

    3.  Winter.

Winter is my favourite season. I love everything about it. I like the cold weather, which always makes the sky seem so blue. I also like being able to see my breath in the cold air. In summer, it's difficult to keep cool outside, but in winter, it's easy to keep warm. I really like hiking in winter. The cold really makes you feel alive. It's also great getting home to a nice warm room. Winter also has the best holidays. I love getting together with my family and then celebrating the New Year. Winter is a really good time to go on vacation because the sights are usually empty. If you go anywhere in Europe in winter, you can be sure of getting a hotel room and you never have to wait to get into a museum.

     4.  Spring.

     Spring is a time for doing things. It seems everyone is full of energy. The days become warmer so everyone spends more time outside. Winter is finishing, so the countryside becomes greener. I love watching the new flowers in my garden in spring. I watch the tulips grow and then I know winter is over. I wonder what it’s like to live in countries that don’t have four seasons. They miss out on what it’s like to welcome spring and see everything come alive. Spring has to be the best season. It definitely makes you feel very positive about life. It’s a good time to clean your house from top to bottom. We call this spring cleaning. Spring also means the weather gets warmer and you can do more things outside.   

 5. Four Seasons.

      I’m not sure how many people ever stop to think how wonderful four seasons are. I think people who live in cities don’t care about the seasons. City people spend half their lives indoors or underground. I live in the country and I love watching the seasons come and go. Every day is different in the countryside. I love watching the crops grow in the fields. I watch them push their way up from the ground in the spring and then grow tall in the summer sun. Just before autumn arrives, the farmer harvests them and then winter comes. Seasons means it’s like living in a new place every four months. Everything changes. One wonderful thing about seasons is the seasonal food you get. There’s always something tasty that’s just come in season.
