Цели: расширение знаний учащихся о культурных традициях страны изучаемого языка.

 

Задачи: Познакомить учащихся с особенностями традиций празднования Дня благодарения в США. Учить употреблять новую лексику в речи. Активизировать имеющиеся знания учащихся по теме "Праздники и традиции США".

 

Оборудование: компьютер, экран, проектор для показа презентации, колонки, презентация, видео ролики.

 

1.      Teacher: Good afternoon, students. Glad to meet you.

(В начале урока включите короткое рекламное видео и попросите студентов отгадать праздник,).

What holiday we are going to speak about? That’s right. When is it celebrated?

 

2.      Thanksgiving quotes. Teacher: Look at the screen. Let’s read the quotes. Do you agree with them? Why?

“Give thanks for a little, and you will find a lot.”

“Showing gratitude is one of the simplest yet most powerful things humans can do for each other.”

“Give thanks not just on Thanksgiving Day, but every day of your life. Appreciate and never take for granted all that you have.”

3.      A Brief History of Thanksgiving

Teacher: Let’s learn about the history of the holiday. But before it learn the new words

(piligrim colonists, roots (корни), a fall feast, harvest, to flee(бежать), prosecution(преследование), civil war, allies(союзники),dooming fate(обреченная судьба).

Teacher: Let’s watch the video about the history of the holiday. Then I’ll ask you questions. What do you know about Thanksgiving?  How old do you think this holiday is?
