Organization moment The teacher greets learners and asks how they feel today. The teacher offers to choose the colour which conforms to their mood.
After that, the teacher says that everyone's mood is different, and offers to make a few compliments to a deskmate to cheer up.
Warm –up Teacher asks some questions to lead-in the topic.

Focus on reading
Pre-reading Teacher asks learners to read the words pine tree, recognize, grove, jewel, decide, grace, competition, seat, intelligence, compliment, skill, turn into, strength, admire, realise.
Reading
The teacher divides learners into small groups and asks the ablest learners from each group to read the story “The grove of the dancing birches” aloud. The other learners can ask to repeat the sentences using the phrase: Can you repeat, please? After this activity learners read the text independently one more time.
Post-reading The teacher divides learners into pairs and asks them to choose five new words from the text. In pairs, learners compare their five words and try to explain or translate their partner’s words. Then they choose five words from their combined list of ten. After that pairs join to make groups of four. Learners compare their words and translate or explain as before. Again they choose five words from their combined list of ten. Each group writes their five words on the board. Learners explain the word to the class. The teacher explains any words that are left.
