Read the proverb and try to guess what we are going to talk about today.

On today’s lesson we will remember

·      how to describe a person’s appearance and character

·      Talk about the connection of appearance and personality

·      The idea of beauty

- Why do we need to be able to describe appearance? In what situations can we need it?

Meet my friend’s sister at the airport.

She is a young woman in her mid-twenties. She is medium height. She is a very cheerful person and she smiles a lot. She always wears jeans and a comfortable shirt. She is slim and very pretty. She has dark, straight and rather smooth hair. She always wears her hair free. (Kate)

- Imagine that you’ve become members of International Student Exchange program. This weekend you are going to accept a student from other country who will live in your family for 2 weeks. But you are really very busy and can’t meet her/him. Ask your friend to meet the student at the airport and describe the appearance of your exchange student. DON’T GIVE A NAME.

Work with your shoulder partner, he/she should guess the name of your student. “A” pupils begin then change.

- Can you guess what the text is going to be about?

1.    Give articles to each team member

2.    Give yellow cards to each team member

3.    Read the article find the answer to your question and write it on the card

4.    Check your answers in “round robin”. Read your question and answer say correct or wrong.

5.    Stand up, push your chair back to the desk. Find a partner not from your team. Ask each other questions, exchange cards and find a new partner.

Look around the classroom. On the walls you can see different quotations, read them and the one you agree with.

·      A beautiful appearance will last a few decades, but a beautiful personality will last a lifetime.

·      An ugly personality destroys a pretty face.

·      Do not judge by appearance; a rich heart can be under a poor hat.

·      Your appearance can be a weapon (*оружие) as powerful as any knife or gun.

Find your nearest partner and give arguments to support the idea you’ve chosen.

I’ll give 30 seconds for each partner. The tallest partner will be the first to answer. Start, please.

-          Now I think we are ready to make a model of a person that you consider really beautiful (inside and outside).  

Team members 2 take card and put it in the middle

Each of you should think of qualities that a beautiful person must have and write your ideas in the box with your number. You have 1 minute.

Team member 1 start reading your ideas and the rest team should vote in favor or against an idea, if all the members agree with the idea then you should put it in the middle square of the paper. Choose only 5 qualities.

Present your ideas to the class.
