“Vet is my future profession”

«Ветеринар-моя будущая профессия»

Во время экскурсии в Краснослободский аграрный техникум с целью профориентации, школьники посетили ветеринарную лабораторию и посмотрели мероприятие в виде интервью со студентами 4 курса специальности «Ветеринария» на английском языке.

Действующие лица:

Корреспондент отдела «Новости Краснослободска» (KS News): Олеся, студентка 3 курса, специальности «Ветеринария»

Студенты – ветеринары: Анна, Наталья, студенты 4 курса, специальности «Ветеринария»

- Correspondent: ( into the cell) Hello, I am Olesya, This is KS news.  We are reporting from Krasnoslobodsk Agricultural College. We are in the new veterinary laboratory of this college.  Look. There are very interesting things around.

Meet our students Anna and Natalia. They are future vets. I would like to ask them some questions. (to the student) Hi, Anna. How are you?

-Anna: Fine, thanks.

- Correspondent: What can you say about your future profession?

-Anna: Well, the vet is one of the oldest and the most necessary professions in the world. Do you know that the first vets appeared few thousand years ago?

A veterinarian is a very interesting and important profession. People keep cats and dogs, hamsters and parrots as pets, farmers have sheep and cows, pigs and horses, there are many kinds of exotic animals at the circus and zoos. We live in the world full of animals and sometimes they need help.

- Correspondent:  ( to other student) Why did you choose this profession, Natalia?

- Natalia: I love animals.  For people who love animals, working as a veterinarian is an ideal job. But it isn`t enough just love animals. It is also a very difficult job. To become a good vet it is necessary to study a lot. Vets have to learn about different diseases that animals get and how treat them. They must be responsible, kind, caring and understanding. A professional vet can give you an advice how to feed and take care of your pet.

- Correspondent: Natalia, why do you want to deal with animals rather that with people?

-  Natalia: Huh… I can answer that people can help themselves and each time they are ill, they can visit a doctor and express their complaints. Animals, on the contrary, can’t tell you where it hurts and it’s a real challenge to cure them. I presume that the best profession for me is a veterinarian. At least, I know I’ll be doing my job with pleasure. 

- Correspondent: I heard that a vet is a dangerous job.

- Natalia: You are right. A vet is a dangerous job too. A sick animal can bite or scratch a vet or have a virus dangerous for people. A vet can be asked his help at any time of day and night.

- Correspondent: Can you tell us anything about your new laboratory?

-Anna: Our laboratory was opened in 2020. To keep up to date, we have to learn on new equipment. Nowadays we have such opportunity. There are microscopes, ultrasound scanners, centrifuges, analyzers, tables and surgical instruments (shows). We delve deeper into the topic with the new equipment and with the new training apparatus.

- Correspondent: Is there anything special for your study?

- Anna: There is a dog dummy in the laboratory. We call it Jack. Jack is our favorite. It does not bite, but it is very helpful in our studies. (application1, photo1)
