Today we will make a trip to one of the largest cities in Russia, the city of Saratov is located on the bank of the Volga. We will learn about its sights, nature and history.

Saratov is a city of regional significance in the
south-east of the European part of Russia, the administrative center of the Saratov region. It is located on the right bank of the Volgograd reservoir opposite the mouth of the Saratovka River and the city of Engels

Until 1990, Saratov was a closed city, as several large enterprises of the defense industry worked in the city, in particular, the Saratov Aviation Plant, which produced military and civilian aircraft.

The coat of arms of the city of Saratov is a traditional heraldic shield. It depicts three silver sterlets, meaning "this country's great abundance of such fish"

Saratov Bridge is a road bridge over the Volgograd reservoir, connecting the right bank, on which the city of Saratov stands, and the left bank, on which the city of Engels is located.

Cosmonauts Embankment is a street in Saratov, stretching from Volskaya Street to the highway bridge across the Volga. The length is one and a half kilometers .

City Park of Culture and Recreation named after Gorky Park is one of the largest recreational areas in Saratov.Two-thirds of the territory is occupied by oak forests, the remaining third is ponds. The infrastructure of the Mountain Park includes two amusement parks, a stage, a cafe, a petting zoo, a rope park, a tennis court and a chess club.

Sergey Nikolaevich Filippov was born on June 11, 1912 in Saratov in a working-class family.After being expelled from school in 1929, on the advice of teachers, he went to Moscow to enroll in the ballet school at the Bolshoi Theater.

Oleg Tabakov was born on August 17, 1935 in Saratov in a family of doctors.He studied at the men's secondary school No. 18 in Saratov.In 1953, Tabakov graduated from school, entered the Moscow Art Theater Studio School in Moscow for the course of People's Artist of the USSR Vasily Toporkov.
