Действие первое

Вступление

Mother: It’s time to go to bed girls! Come on! Be quick! Brush your teeth and get ready!

Girl 1: Mommy! Mommy! Read us a fairytale! About fairies and mermaids!

Girl 2: No! We want a scary story! About pirates! And adventures!

Girl 3: I know what we can read! Mommy, read us about Peter Pan.

Mother: O.k., girls. Now, sit down, I will read you about fairies and mermaids, pirates and adventures, true love and real friendship.

Сцена 1

Действие происходит в детской дома Дарлингов. На сцене три кровати, ширма, ночники. На сцену выбегает Майк, он капризничает.

Mike: I won't go to bed, I won't, I won't!! It isn't nine o'clock yet! I won't clean my teeth, I won't! (Убегает за ширму.)

На сцене появляется миссис Дарлинг в нарядном платье, так как собирается в гости. Выходят дети.

Children: Неге we are, Mommy!

John: I am Captain Hook, Nana!       

Mike: Wendy and I are fighting with pirates! Wendy is Cinderella.

Missis Darling: Oh, dear! Wendy, your fairytales are always so interesting!

Nana: Yes, ma’am, she will write a wonderful book one day!

На сцену врывается мистер Дарлинг, он в парадных брюках, но без пиджака. За ним семенит тетушка.

Mister Darling: (раздражённо) Ah! I have found you, Mary! I can’t find my best tie! Mary, it is a very important dinner! I can get a good job and a lot of money! But I need my tie to go out!

Nana: Here it is, sir. Галстук в это время находится на голове у Майкла вместо пиратской повязки.

Missis Darling: Oh, Mike has got your tie! Please, give it to me, honey.

Mister Darling: It’s dirty now! And where are my documents? I need to take them to dinner.

John: Here they are, daddy.

Mister Darling: And what are these strange pictures and letters on my documents?

Mike: We drew a pirate map to find treasure.

Mister Darling: Wendy! You and your stupid stories! Nana, I am very unhappy with you! Wendy is like a boy.

Aunt Polly: You are 13 already! You are a young lady. You can’t live with your brothers and make up these silly stories!

Mister Darling: Your aunt is right. From tomorrow you will have your own room.

Children: Daddy, no! Please, no!!!

Mister Darling: It is my last word! I am ready, darling! Your aunt will stay with you tonight! Good-bye, children.

Missis Darling: Your father is very tired. Go to bed, dear children.  (миссис Дарлинг следует за ним)

Peter Pan: Tink! Let’s go and listen to Wendy’s story about Cinderella and Captain Hook. Her stories are the best! Then I will tell the lost boys about their adventures.

Aunt Polly is going to her room. Peter Pan and Tink run away from her, but the boy loses his shadow. The woman sees Peter Pan’s shadow. It is playing with her. Shadow dances break-dance. Aunt Polly is scared. She faints with a loud sound. The Shadow is happy.

Сцена 2

Просыпается Wendy.

Wendy: What are you doing here?

Peter: (с почтительным поклоном) What is your name?

Wendy: (кланяясь в ответ) Wendy Moira Angela Darling. What is your name?

Peter Pan: Peter Pan.

Wendy: Where do you live?

Peter Pan: I live in the Neverland.

Wendy: What a funny address!

Peter Pan: No, it isn't. It’s a wonderful country, with beautiful forests, lakes, pirates, fairies and mermaids. I live there with the lost boys.

Wendy: The lost boys? And what about your mother? Where does she live?

Peter Pan: I don't have a mother.

Wendy: Who are the Lost Boys?

Peter Pan: They are the children who run away to the Neverland. They don’t want to go to school. We don’t want to grow up. I'm their captain. We fight against the pirates and Indians.

Wendy: What fun!

Peter Pan: Yes, but we are lonely. You see we have no mother. No one tells us stories before we go to bed.

Wendy: How awful. I know lots of stories.

Peter Pan: Wendy, do fly with me and tell the other boy!

Wendy: I can't fly!

Peter Pan: I'll teach you!

Wendy: (бросается к братьям и начинает их будить) Wake up! Peter Pan has come and he will teach us to fly!

John: Hello, I am up. I say, Peter, can you really fly? How do you do it?

Peter Pan: You just think lovely wonderful thoughts and they lift you up in the air.

Michael: I am flying!

Children: How wonderful! Look at me! Look at me!

Peter Pan: I say, why don’t we fly to the Neverland? There are mermaids! Indians!

Все улетают

Дети исчезают и в тот же момент на сцене появляются родители. Они видят, что детей нет, зовут их, начинают плакать.

Missis Darling: Children? Children! Where are they? Nana! Aunt Polly!

Mister Darling: They… are gone! Nana, call the police! Quick!

Действие второе

Действие происходит на острове. На сцене прекрасный лес и лагуна, на переднем плане - большое дерево с дуплом, которое служит входом в дом. Пропавшие мальчишки сидят на сцене, взгляды их устремлены вдаль, они ждут Питера Пена.

Boy 1: I wish Peter would come back.

Boy 2: I am not afraid of pirates but I wish he would come back and tell us more about Cinderella.

Boy 3: I am sure my mother was very much like her.

Boy 4: And I don’t remember my mother!

Boy 5: I don’t remember my mother, too…

Страшный рёв заставляет мальчишек броситься к своему убежищу. Пиратская песня возвещает о приближении морских разбойников.

Pirates: Yo-ho, yo-ho, the pirate life, The flag o'skull and bones, A merry hour, a hempen rope, And hey for Davy Jones.

На сцену выходят пираты во главе с капитаном Крюком. Вместо руки у него железный крюк. Один из пиратов видит высунувшегося из укрытия мальчика и жестами предлагает убить его. Но Хук больно впивается крюком в его руку.

Pirate 1: Captain, let go!

Hook: Stop!

Pirate 1: It was one of those boys you hate. I could kill him!

Hook: {остается наедине с Боцманом Сми). Most of all, I want their captain, Peter Pan. It was he who cut off my hand. He gave it to the crocodile. Now the crocodile wants to eat me!

Smee: In a way, it is a compliment.

Hook: I want no such compliments. I want Peter Pan, who first gave my hand to the monster. But it also ate my clock which goes tick-tock inside it, and I can hear the crocodile before it can catch me. Let’s go back to the ship!

(Запевает пиратскую песню, к нему присоединяются остальные пираты и все удаляются.)

На сцене снова появляются пропавшие мальчишки.

Peter Pan: Good evening, boys!  I am back. Great news, I have brought you all a mother.

Boy 5 & Boy 4: О Wendy lady, be our mother!

Wendy: But I don’t know how!

Peter Pan: That’s o.k. You only need to tell us fairytales and be kind and caring.

Wendy: Oh dear! I can do it!

All boys: It is, it is, we saw it at once.

Wendy: Very well, I will do my best. But Peter you promised to show me mermaids.

Peter: Oh, I’ll take you, Wendy, to the mermaid lagoon

Действие третье

На сцене русалочья лагуна со Скалой Казни, на которой пираты оставляют своих пленников. На сцене появляются Венди, Питер и ребята.

Венди: I want to see a mermaid.

Питер: (Внезапно он замирает, вслушиваясь. Слышится песня пиратов, её звук постепенно усиливается.) Pirates! Hide!

Peter и Wendy быстро скрываются за скалой. Появляются пираты, они ведут захваченную в плен Тигровую Лилию.

Smee: Here is the rock. Let’s kill her.

Из-за скалы чуть заметно показываются Питер и Венди. Девочка пла­чет, а Питер решает спасти индианку и кричит, подражая голосу Крюка.

Peter Pan: Hey, you there!

Pirate 5: (удивлённо переглядываясь) The captain!

Smee: We are going to kill her.

Peter Pan: Set her free.

Pirate 2: (изумлённо) Free?

Peter Pan: Yes, cut her bonds and let her go.

Pirate 6: But, captain…

Peter Pan: Now, do you hear? Or I'll use my hook on you.

Smee: This is strange.

Pirate 3: Better do what the captain says.

Пираты перерезают путы на руках Тигровой Лилии, и та мгновенно исчезает. Венди и Питер молча ликуют. На сцену выходит настоящий Крюк, вид у него весьма мрачный.

Pirate 1: Captain, is all well?

Smee: What's up, captain?

Hook: The game's up, those boys have found a mother.

Pirate 4: О evil day!

Smee: Captain, should we kidnap these boys' mother and make her our mother?

Hook: It is a perfect plan. We will catch the children and take them to the boat. We will kill the boys and Wendy will become our mother.

Hook: Do you agree, guys?

Pirates: Yes, we do

Hook: And there is my hook. (Пираты клянутся исполнить план.) Where is the redskin?

Pirate 5: That is all right, captain. We let her go.

Hook: Let her go?!

Pirate 3: You told us to let her go!

Hook: What!? NO! Never! Who's making fools of us? I know who it was! Peter Pan! Catch and bring him to me, dead or alive!

В это время выносим полотно. Появляются русалки с хвостами. Одна причесывает волосы, другая играет с ракушками. Поют песню No Ordinary Girl.

Питер и Венди подходят поближе.

Peter: Hello, girls! This is Wendy!

Meramaid 1: Peter, something is wrong with you. Look at her old dress! Who can wear such a dress?!

Mermaid 2: What about her hair? It’s ugly.

Обе русалки плещут в Венди водой и она закрывает лицо руками.

Peter: But she is very kind and knows a lot of fairy-tales

Mermaid 3: Tell us please a fairy-tale. We like them but we have no mother.

Mermaid 4: No-one tells us fairy-tales here!

Wendy: Well I know a lot of fairy-tales: Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow white, Rapunzel and many others.

Mermaid 4: Oh Peter! How lucky you are. Will you come again and tell us these amazing fairy tales and you can come to us anytime if you need anything. This is for you. (дарят бусы)

Действие четвертое

В доме Дарлингов.

Police officer 1: What happened here?

Mister Darling: When we came home our children were not there.

Aunt Polly: The window was open and the children were not in their beds.

Police officer 2: The window was open! This is bad! This is very bad!

Nana: Why is it bad?

Police officer 1: Because it was Peter Pan who took your children!

Police officer 2: Every year he takes little boys and girls and they never come back!

Police officer 1: People say that he kills them in the Neverland!

Мистер и миссис Дарлинг обнимаются и начинают плакать.

Индейцы танцуют вокруг костра. Входят Венди, Питер Пен и мальчики.

Peter Pan: Peter Pan is very happy to see you!

The Chief: Me not happy! What these boys do here?!

Tiger Lily: Me Tiger Lily. Peter Pan save me from pirates. He be my friend.

The Chief: Me not know. Thank you, Peter Pan. My daughter’s friend be my friend – our friend!

Индейцы с достоинством удаляются.

Мальчики, Венди и Питер Пен садятся ужинать. Мальчики выносят стол.

Peter Pan: Ah, Wendy, it is so nice to have a mother!

Wendy: Yes, of course. Here is your medicine, darling. You need to drink it every day.

Boy 1: And now, the fairy tale, you promised!

Wendy: Listen, then. There once lived a gentleman and a lady. The gentleman's name was Mr. Darling and her name was Mrs. Darling.

John: I knew them.

Mike: I think I knew them, too.

Венди: They were married and they had three children and these children flew away.

Boy 2: It's a very good story.

Wendy: They flew away to the Neverland, where the lost children lived. And I think their parents were… unhappy! (Венди только что сама поняла)

Children: Oo!

Wendy: They saw their empty beds…

Boy 5: How sad!..

Wendy: But their mother knew that they will come back one day. So she opened the window of their room and waited for them!

Peter Pan: (с тяжёлым вздохом и глубокой горечью в голосе) Wendy, you are wrong about mothers. Long ago I thought that my mother would open the window for me; so I flew back; but the window was closed, my mother had forgotten about me, and there was another little boy in my bed.

John and Michael: (вместе) Wendy, we want to go home!

Wendy: (обнимая братьев) Yes. Peter, will you help us?

Peter Pan: If you wish.

Венди, Майкл и Джон поют песню Mama.

Мальчишки обступают Венди.

Boy 1: It will be worse than before!

Boy 5: We  can’t let her go. No-one will tell us stories!

Boy 3: No-one will take care of us!

Boy 4: No-one will love us!

Wendy: (с дрожью в голосе) Dear ones, you should go back to your moms and dads.

Boys: Peter, can we go?

Peter Pan: (с горькой усмешкой) If you want!

Wendy: Get your things, Peter.

Peter Pan: No, I am not going with you.

Wendy: But, Peter.

Peter Pan: No. Now then, goodbye, Wendy.

Wendy: Here is some chocolate for you, Peter.  

Peter Pan: Yes, good-bye.

Дети уходят, Венди все время оборачивается, надеясь, что Питер передумает, а тот, изображая полное равнодушие, укладывается спать. За сценой слышны звуки боя. На сцену крадучись выходит Крюк, он видит спящего Питера и чашку с лекарством и, злорадно улыбаясь, наливает в неё яд и также тихо выходит. Вернувшаяся фея все это видит. Она будит Питера Пена.

Peter Pan: (просыпаясь от громкого звона колокольчика) What is it? The pirates caught Wendy and the boys? I must help them! Where is my medicine? (берет в руки чашку и начинает отгонять фею). Stop, it's mine. Don't be silly. O, Tink did you do it to save me? (Протягивает руки к залу.) Do you believe in fairies? If you believe, clap your hands; don't let Tink die! And now we will save Wendy. And Tiger Lily will help me!

Pirate 6: It’s their mother! Get her! Get the boys!

Pirates: Hooray!

Действие пятое

Действие происходит на пиратском корабле. Пираты шумно режутся в карты, Крюк расхаживает по палубе. Внезапно он останавливается и злобно кричит.

Hook: Quiet! Can the children run away?

Pirates: No, sir.

Hook: Then bring the boys here.

Пираты выталкивают на сцену пленников и выстраивают их перед своим капитаном.

Hook: Now then, I am going to kill you, but I need two more pirates. Do you want to become pirates?

John: No, sorry. And what about you, Mike?

Mike: I don't think so.

Hook: Stop talking! Then I will kill you! Bring up their mother!

Венди выталкивают на палубу, с благородным спокойствием она поднимается и смотрит на Крюка.

Hook: (слащаво) So, my beauty, you will see how we will kill your children.

Wendy: Will all of them die?

Hook: They will. They don’t want to be my new pirates. Quiet, mother will say her last words to her children.

Wendy: (очень торжественно) These are my last words, my dear boys. I’m proud of you!

Hook: (кричит, перебивая) Shut up!

Крюк начинает приближаться к Венди, Боцман готовит петлю, и тут все резко замирают, так как слышится громкое крокодилье "тик-так". Выходит крокодил и танцует. Хук смертельно напуган.

На сцене, закутанный в черный плащ, бесшумно появляются Питер и Тигровая Лилия. Вос­пользовавшись общим замешательством, они освобождают пленников от оков и вручают мальчикам их шпаги. Тиканье прекращается. Первым при­ходит в себя Пират 1.

Pirate 1: (злобно насмехаясь) Who will help you now, missy.

Peter Pan: (сбрасывая плащ) Peter Pan! Attack them, boys!

Начинается схватка, воодушевлённые стремлением к свободе и чудес­ным появлением своего капитана ребята расправляются с пиратами, и вскоре все окружают Питера и Крюка.

Peter Pan: This man is mine.

Исход схватки предрешён, и, преследуемый Питером, Крюк бросается за борт. Раздаётся тиканье, крокодил ожидал не зря.

Crocodile: Come here, I’ve been waiting for you. I’ll eat you up.

Children: Hooray!

Wendy: And now let’s go home, boys!

Действие шестое       '

На сцене снова детская семьи Дарлинг. Мистер и миссис Дарлинг сидят друг напротив друга, они очень печальны. Горит ночник.

Mister Darling: My love, will you shut that window, it is cold.

Missis Darling: Оh, George, never ask me to do that. The window must always be open for them, always, always.

Она начинает играть, и Мистер Дарлинг постепенно засыпает в кресле. Входят Венди, Джон и Майк.

Mike: John, I think I have been here before.

John: Of course, you have, you silly. This is your old bed.

Wendy: (подойдя к креслу) It's father!  (подойдя на цыпочках к двери) It's mother! Let‘s all  go tour beds.

Дети забираются в свои постели и ждут, но Миссис Дарлинг, войдя в комнату, просто не верит своим глазам. Она уже слишком долго ждёт, чтобы поверить в чудо.

Missis Darling: No, I can't believe it. It's better not to look there!

Wendy: (не выдержав) Mother!

Missis Darling: (словно во сне) That's Wendy.

John: Mother!

Missis Darling: That's John.

Mike: Mother!

Missis Darling: (окончательно очнувшись) That's Michael! George! George!

Мистер Дарлинг просыпается. Общие объятия и слёзы радости. Вбегают Няня и тетя Полли, все обнимаются, и только Венди задерживается на сцене.

Wendy: (пытаясь увидеть что-то незаметное простому глазу) You won't forget me, Peter, will you?

Mom: …And they lived happily ever after. Mister and missis Darling loved all their children. They all grew up. Wendy became a famous writer. The boys became doctors, businessmen, bankers, teachers…

Входит папа девочек.

Girl 1: Daddy, daddy! Mom has read us the story about Peter Pan.

Girl 2: It was wonderful!

Dad: I know this story.

Girl 3: Daddy, and do you know what was with Peter Pan?

Dad: I think Wendy taught him how to grow up. He is very happy now.

Пока девочки отвернулись, папа достает из кармана наперсток Венди. Дзинь из-за шторы показывает ему, что надо молчать.
