Ход мероприятия:

P.1: Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to our Sports quiz. During the whole month we have been studying the topic Sport and now it’s high time to find out which team knows this subject better.

P. 2: you will have several tasks and for completing every task each team will get a certain number of points.

P. 1: The winner will be awarded small souvenirs and the most active of you will get good marks.

P. 2: First, we’ll choose the name and the captain for every team.

Ученики придумывают названия команды и выбирают капитанов.

P. 1: OK, now you are ready to start the competition, aren’t you?

P. 2: The first task will be the contest “Matching”. We will give you the cards. You will need to match the name of sports, actions and equipment.

Ученики совмещают карточки с названием видов спорта, действий и необходимого снаряжения.

P.1: Oh, you seem to be extremely knowledgeable at different kinds of sports and equipment. But there is another task waiting. “Under starter’s orders”.

P. 2: For each word or name connected with sports or games you will see three possible definitions. Decide together which is the right one.

Раздаются карточки с заданиями. Команды выполняют задание на время.

P. 1: So, dear contestants, you’ve managed to do two tasks and the team of … is leading for the present moment. But we’re only in the middle of the contest and everything can change. Now you have another task to complete.

P. 2: In which sport or game do you see the following? Unscramble the names of the Olympic events. For this activity you have only 4 minutes.

Учащиеся выполняют задание. Результат записывается на доске.

P. 1: The atmosphere is becoming hot in our competition. We’re very close to the end. But the next task for you is to answer the questions about the most important sports event Olympic Games. So, captains, come here.

Капитаны команды подходят к ведущим и выполняют задания.

P. 2: So, the winner in this contest is …

P. 1: The decisive and the last task is to find 14 sports words in the word square. You can read them horizontally, vertically or diagonally. You have to find one word with 3 letters, three words with 4 letters, three words with 5 letters, four words with 6 letters, one word with 7 letters and two words with 8 letters.

Ученики стараются найти как можно больше слов.
