Theme of the lesson

Voltampere characteristics of metals, semiconductors and incandescent lamps.

Learning objectives that are achieved at this lesson (Subject Programme reference)

10.4.3.4 - to study the volt-ampere characteristics of an incandescent lamp, a resistor, and a semiconductor diode;

Lesson objectives

Students can create a simple voltage divider circuit with a fixed resistor and a variable resistor

Success criteria

·         can compile a simple scheme.

·         can compare the current-voltage characteristic, determines the differences

·         analyzes the obtained data, constructs a plot of I versus U.

Language objectives

Students can

interpret graphs to explain the electrical characteristics of various components (speaking skills)

Subject vocabulary and terminology

Current-voltage characteristics, a metal conductor at a constant temperature, a semiconductor diode, an incandescent lamp, Ohm's law, a neo-Mohm conductor,

Values instilled at the lesson

- to promote the development of a culture of relationships (respect, cooperation, responsibility) when working in groups, pairs, through the content of assignments;

- to promote the education of an informed and critically thinking citizen who is able to comprehend scientific issues in the context of socially and personally significant tasks.

Global citizenship: Issues that affect the interaction and interconnection of communities at the local, national and global levels.

Organization of students

"Say hello to your elbows."

Students walk around the class greeting each other, touching their elbows and saying good wishes. Thus, they are physically and emotionally activated. Increased attention of students, education of communicative qualities, goodwill.

Discussion of the topic of the lesson, the objectives of the training and the evaluation criteria.

Form and methods: The teacher discusses with the students the learning goals and the criterion of evaluation. Which will be demonstrated in the form of presentations on the interactive whiteboard. After discussing the purpose of teaching and evaluation criteria, the teacher applies the "Forecast" method. Teacher offers students to make their prediction for the end of a pair of lessons, suggesting that they will know or not know what they will be able to or can not do.

Form of activity: Individual work.

Discussion with the students of safety techniques when working with electrical appliances.

Learning new material.

Form and methods: Carrying out laboratory work on the volt-ampere characteristic of ohmic and non-ohmic conductors.

The form of activity: Paired work students work in pairs.

Formative assessment: Teacher, during a constructive dialogue gives feedback to each student in the form of commentary and encouragement for further development.

Global citizenship: discuss with students about the negative impact of high-voltage power lines and large transformers on living organisms.

Reflection

At the end of the lesson, the teacher asks you to discuss the pairs that have come true and do not come true and note them.

Differentiation – how do you plan to give more support? How do you plan to challenge the more able learners?

Assessment – how are you planning to check students’ learning?

Health and safety regulations

Differentiation can be by task, by outcome, by individual support, by selection of teaching materials and resources taking into account individual abilities of learners (Theory of Multiple Intelligences by Gardner).

Differentiation can be used at any stage of the lesson keeping time management in mind.

Use this section to record the methods you will use to assess what students have learned during the lesson.

Health promoting techniques

Breaks and physical activities used.

Points from Safety rules used at this lesson.

Reflection

Were the lesson objectives/learning objectives realistic? Did all learners achieve the LO?

If not, why?

Did my planned differentiation work well?

Did I stick to timings?

What changes did I make from my plan and why?

Use the space below to reflect on your lesson. Answer the most relevant questions from the box on the left about your lesson.

Summary evaluation

What two things went really well (consider both teaching and learning)?

1:

2:

What two things would have improved the lesson (consider both teaching and learning)?

1:

2:

What have I learned from this lesson about the class or achievements/difficulties of individuals that will inform my next lesson?
