·         ОБРАЗОВАТЕЛЬНЫЕ: :                                                                                                                                                                             Расширить филологический кругозор учащихся.                                                                                                                                                  Расширить знания учащихся о культуре, истории, родного края, своего города.

·         Формировать у учащихся умения работать со справочной литературой.

·        ПРАКТИЧЕСКИЕ:

·         Организовать ознакомление учащихся с новой лексикой по теме и устную

·         тренировку в употреблении этого лексического материала в речи на уровне    предложения.

·          Организовать чтения текста с полным пониманием прочитанного.

·         Научить учащихся работать самостоятельно над заданием-проектом.

·         Научить слушать и понимать текст, игнорируя незнакомые слова.

·        РАЗВИВАЮЩИЕ:

·         Развивать умения логически излагать свою мысль

·         Развивать способность сравнивать языковые явления родного и иностранного языка.

Flora and Fauna of Donetsk Region

A national park is an area of a country that is protected by the state because of its natural beauty or because it has a special history. 

Some of the most famous national parks: the Snowdonia National Park (Great Britain), The Wood Buffalo National Park (Canada), The Yellowstone National Park (the USA), The Kruder National Park (South Africa), The Belovezhskiy Park (Belarus).

Task 1.  Have you ever heard about the national parks?

Task 2.   Read the list of ideas below and choose the ones you think the most important for national parks:

·         to preserve natural beauty and wildlife;

·         to show the beauties of the land to the visitors;

·         to enjoy, to have a rest;

·         to preserve historic sites where important events took place;

·         to protect animals and plants, especially rare specimens;

·         to study wildlife;

·         to make history come to life.

Task 3. Read out the text. Can we say that the text is about a kind of a national park in our region? Why? Explain the words in bold.

Hi, guys! Welcome to Velikoanadolskiy Forest, a school and a laboratory for studying various aspects of steppe forestry. This man-made forest was founded by a forester and a scientist of the 19-th century V. Ye. Graff .  
Look there! Can you see those trees? They are silver chains, maples, poplars, sorbuses, wild ashes and others. Here you can see wind flowers, carnations, cornflowers, tulips. Every day I meet my animal friends - antilopes, brown hares, squirrels, bears, weasels, owls, bats. 
Everyone can come and admire the nature, have a rest with the family.
I'm afraid, there is an urgent problem concerning the people of our region - human activities make the environment unhealthy. Our plants and factories produce wastes. Our agriculture makes the habitat impossible for wildlife. People put rubbish. Animals and plants breathe not safe air, eat poisonous food and take in chemicals with water. They suffer from dangerous diseases. Such species as eared hedgehog, booted eagle, otter, bumble-bee, tinker, mat-grass, achillea and others are nearly extinct. 
Fortunately, every spring a lot of students come here. They study the nature, clean up the forest, collect rubbish, plant greenery. 
As Dalai Lama once said: "...To take care of the planet is to take care of our own house." So young people follow the advice and try to make the  nature of our homeland clean and healthy.

Task 4. Make up six questions to the text and ask your classmates to answer them.

Task 5. Did you ever come across traces of holiday-makers (tins, egg-shells, yoghurt cartons, paper-bags, bottles left lying about) when you happened to go camping? If so, what do you tink of the people who were there before you?

Say how you think everyone can show his (her) concern with the cleanliness and the beauty of the place in which he (she) lives. What is your contribution? What do you do to keep your neighbourhood clean?

 

Task 7. Some species of flora and fauna are endangered to become extinct. Give the examples from the text.  Imagine that you are a member of a team  that is working to save the three endangered species. Which species  will you save? Why?

Portfolio. Collect information using the Internet, then write  an article (80-100 words) for your school newspaper about a place you have recently visited with your family.  Write:

·         What kinds of plants and animals there are;

·         if a historic event took place there;

·         if a famous person lived there.
