The 25-th of January – Tatiana’s Day.
The legend says: Tatiana was born in a famous Roman family. Her father was a secret Christian and brought up his daughter a noble and honest girl. She believed in God. At the age of 18, Tatiana didn’t get married and fully devoted herself to church. She looked after sick people and helped those in need.
The Christians were forced to worship the Roman gods. In the cases of disobedience they were tortured even to death. A lot of people were captured and Tatiana was among of them. She was taken to the Apollo’s temple. All the time on the way to the temple Tatiana was praying with passion and suddenly a miracle happened. The Apollo’s temple was destroyed by an earthquake. The walls, the statue of Apollo’s – everything was broken into pieces.
Tatiana ‘s offenders didn’t pay attention to that sign and continued to torture her. Tatiana didn’t stop praying and God heard her prayers. From her wounds flowed milk instead of blood and the air filled with a sweet smell. Her wounds healed, and on the next day she was more beautiful than before.
The next day Tatiana was taken to the circus to be eaten by lions. But the lions didn’t dare to rush the poor girl and licked her legs. Then the offenders threw her into the fire, but the fire couldn’t kill her either. The offenders were shocked. They had tried to kill Tatiana several times, but didn’t succeed.
When all the tortures came to an end, the offenders cut her head off.
