The Kazakh people
• They are Turkic people. The major word etymology (in translation
from the Old Turkic language) means a free spirit, independent
person. Traditional art culture demonstrates proper relation to the
colour and ornament as esthetic and world outlook categories.
Officially, these people are considered to confess Islam, and
Islamic values are shown in the culture. The main dishes are meat
ones. Lamb, beef and horsemeat are widely used for the preparing
of the food. There are a lot of dairy dishes and drinks. Tea (strong,
with milk) is considered the major drink. Kyuj (a traditional
instrument theatrical piece) is a widespread form of musical art.
Yurt is a traditional home.

The Russian people
• They are East Slavic people. Their confession is primarily Christianity. The
first forms of fine art were shown in folk patterns (ornaments). The
Classical painting appeared in the XVIII century. Ancient layers of oral
culture are shown with folklore: folk tales, fairy tales, plots, songs and
proverbs. Literature, especially the prose of the XIX century, affected the
development of the world culture. An essential part of the national culture is
dancing, which has another name hopping. People also know woman
round dances and man squatting dances. Arts and crafts present utility art of
creation and decoration of household items: dishes, jewelryboxes, toys. A
log cabin with a couple roof is a traditional home. Such dishes as porridges,
cabbage soup, meat pockets, pancakes, pies, rye beer, okroshka, rye bread
are very popular.

The Uzbek people
• They are Turkic people. Their confession is primarily Sunni. Art of
manuscript and bookbinding developed in the XVI—XVII
centuries. Decorative design of manuscript included calligraphy,
which was painting of fine ornaments with ink colours on the
sidelines. Features of traditional building art are used in
homebuilding. They are antiseismic wooden frame, covered porch,
holes in the walls for different home items. Food consists of
different vegetable, dairy and meat products. Plov is a favourite
dish. Vegetables, fruit, grapes, watermelons, different kinds of nuts
take a big part in food. Tea (usually green one) is the main drink.

The Ukrainian people
• They are East Slavic people. Their confession is primarily Christianity.
Farming agriculture is a traditional occupation. People used to live in
log clay cabins, which were whitened inside and outside, with straw,
bulrush or wooden rib roof. Different songs have always been the
brightest feature of national folk art. The main hot dishes are fish and
meat soup with vegetables. People widely use beetroot, green bacon,
wheat flour and many different products simultaneously cooked. They
like honey, beer, rye beer and uzvars. Wine making is developed from
long ago.
