Service in the Armed forces
After graduating from College in 1972, he served in the positions of platoon commander (1972-1975) and commander of an infantry company 322 th infantry regiment, Central army group. Then as commander of an infantry company (1977-1979) and the chief of staff of motorized infantry battalion in the Leningrad military district (1979-1981).
Social activities
Vladimir Usmanov took an active part in regional activities in the field of Patriotic education of youth. In 2001 joined the Russian Union of journalists.
On December 8, 2004 is a member of the Union of writers of Russia. Of all literary genres Mr Usmanov chose the sharp — journalism. He is actively working on creating a series of books of a Patriotic orientation.
Social activities
After retirement in 2006, carried out the credentials of the adviser, and with the 2014 Plenipotentiary representative of the Governor of the Kurgan region on Patriotic education. Vladimir Usmanov took an active part in the preparation of the electronic version of the Memory Book of Kurgan region and the site "Memory of Zauralye".
Under his leadership the regional campaign "will Put a monument to village", which aims to preserve the memory of those who died at the front of the now defunct human settlements (established over 100 monuments) and "the Wells of memory," preserving the memory of heroes-countrymen in rural areas (built more than 70 wells in 14 districts).

In June 2015, the head of the Kurgan regional branch VOOV "Combat Brotherhood", is the Plenipotentiary representative in the Urals Federal district. In September 2017 under the leadership of Usmanov on the basis of Berezovsky agricultural College created the primary youth organization "Combat Brotherhood".
In 2015, a significant contribution to the military-Patriotic literature of the Urals, Usmanov was awarded the national prize named after D. N. Mamin-Sibiryak.
In January 2019, has left his post in the government of the Kurgan region (the Plenipotentiary of the Governor on the issues of Patriotic education) and retired. Seniority has reached 50 years of age.
Scientific activity
Doctor of pedagogical Sciences. In 1998 he defended his thesis on "the Formation of military-professional orientation of youth (pedagogical aspect)". Associate Professor of the Department of pedagogy at Kurgan state University, Professor. In 2004 he defended his doctoral thesis "Theoretical and methodological substantiation and practice of management of military-professional orientation of young people".
