Izba
The main focus of all Slavic life was the hut. The name of the Russian house "izba" comes from the Old Russian "istba", which means house, bathhouse. In ancient times, huts were "black" or "smoky". "Black" huts were called, which were heated by stoves without a chimney. The oven served as both a source of heat, a place to cook food, and a place to sleep, and was used in the treatment of a wide variety of diseases. In some furnaces, they washed and steamed. In the summer they were used as a bedroom, and also storerooms were arranged in them. There was a blind basement under the cage, in which cattle were kept. When building a new hut, our ancestors followed the rules developed over the centuries, because the construction of a new house is a significant event in the life of a peasant family.
Dormitory
A dormitory is a place of temporary residence for visiting students, students: for the duration of their studies; seasonal workers, for the duration of work, service, or which has become permanent for employees of the institution. The area in dormitories is distributed from the standard of at least 4.5 sq. m. per tenant, that is, several people can live in one room. The level of comfort in the hostel is usually quite low.
Flat
A flat is one of the types of living space, which consists of one or more adjacent rooms with a separate external exit, forming a separate part of the house. In addition, it may contain additional amenities such as a balcony or loggia, a terrace, a front garden, a utility room or a parking space. Due to the relatively high price, not all residents of the city can afford to buy an apartment. That is why many young families are forced to rent an apartment.
Dacha
Some people do indeed live at their dachas (and in that case these are more like country houses), but there is no such thing as suburbia in the "American way of thinking". People do not move to suburbs when they start families and want to raise kids. People want to have an apartment in the city as the permanent home and dacha as a summer-house for weekends. And those people, who do live outside of the city, but work in the center are heavily penalized for the opportunity to have fresh air by sitting in traffic jams on their way to and from work for many hours every day.
