PREPARATION:
Make one copy of the worksheet for
each pair of students in the class OR
use interactive white board for
projecting the images for the whole
class.
Cut the cards out as indicated (one for
each student)
Prepare a list of verbs with their
meanings for reference
Make sure students have irregular
verbs list in with their past simple
forms for reference

PROCEDURE:
1. Attract students’ attention to the worksheet
2. Ask different students to name the actions in the pictures and write them on the board
3. Ask students what kind of verbs they know (elicit regular and irregular)
4. Ask students to open their list of irregular verbs and check which verbs from the board list are irregular.
Make sure students know how to pronounce them correctly.
5. Write a statement on the board “Everybody ate dinner with their family yesterday” and discuss what form
they see in the statement. Then write “Everybody used their computers yesterday.” Pay students attention
to the form of the verb in a statement.
6. Ask students to work in pairs and revise the irregular verbs illustrated by the pictures by saying in
turns(in a pair) infinitive form – simple past form (for about 3 minutes).
7. Write an example of Simple Past question on the board (Did you use a lift yesterday?) and ask some
student to elicit the answer Yes, I did or No, I didn’t.
8. Pay students’ attention to the structure of the question and the verb form and give out the individual cards
explaining that now they are going to receive their own statement to check if it’s true or false. Make it
clear that their task is to understand their own statements and to prepare the correct form of the
question for the rest of the class.
9. Ask students to write their questions in their notebooks and ask two or three students to read out their
questions. Make sure the whole class follow the instruction and check their written questions individually.
10. Now tell your students that their task is to ask their questions, listen to the answers and note down
positive answers for a report.
11. The students go round the class and ask and answer questions by saying Yes, I did or No, I didn’t. They
can point to the corresponding picture if their partner doesn’t understand the question.
12. Write on the board: Only 5 people in our class… Only 5 people in our class … Everybody in the class …
and explain the meaning.
13. Finally, ask students “What did you find out?” and elicit the answer “ Only 5 people in our class used a lift
yesterday” or “ Everybody in the class went to the park with a friend yesterday” or “Nobody in the class
broke a cup yesterday”.
14.For homework ask students to write at least 6 questions they answered.
