Before starting our lesson I’d like you to brainstorm a little. Look at the samples,
listen to the speaker and make up the poem. Put the samples (strips) in the correct
order on your computer. Choose the correct answer.

So the topic of our lesson is Read or not to read.
The aims: We are going to speak about the role of reading and place of literature
in life. During the lesson we’ll design the project booklet. At the end of our lesson
you’ll have your booklets which present your own opinion about reading.

Now you have 3 minutes to write your opinion in your project booklet. It is your
first page.
Use these expressions and Say what role reading play in your lives and how it
forms your moral values.
I see you have your own point of view about reading. The second page of our
booklet will devoted to different kinds of books. Let’s remember them.
Let’s play a role game. The First group is readers, the second group is writers.
Readers put the questions about literature genres. Writers must answer them.
Choose the sheet of paper with the literature genre and types of writers you to ask
about.
You will receive bonus for every answer.

Some science fiction writers say that in the future books will be replaced by the
computer. What is your opinion about this?

Do you sometimes read the same book again and again?
What book have you read more that once?
What are the reasons why you choose a book to read?
Who are your favourite authors?
Is reading your hobby or necessity?
Do you think books influence people in some way? Why do you think so?
Do you prefer to read books first and then see its filmed version or, see it and then
read? Why?
If you have read an interesting book, do you want to share your impressions with
somebody or do you like to keep them to yourself?
How often do you go to the library?
Have you got any favourite English writers?
Does reading play an important role in your life? How much time do you devote to
it?
Do you read for pleasure, for information or both?

Make a survey “What sorts of books do students of our group like reading”. Write
your favourite literature genre on a sheet of paper.

Let’s design the second page of your project.
Choose one or two of literary forms. What genre of books do you find most
interesting? Why? Tell and write your opinion about it. Why do you like it. What books have you
read? Give examples of books which you keep in your memory. Why?
At the last lesson you have made a report about your favorite writer and about your
favorite book. Use your reports on the second page.
Now the second page of your project is ready.

The third page will be devoted to your own book. You have a plan of advert
according to it you had to do your homework for today.
Make an advert of your future book. What type of book would you write? Who
would be your audience? What would be on the cover of your book? What would
its title be?
Look through the keywords and make up your advert of your own book.

IV. If you need some books you can find it at the library. A visit to the library will
be our next topic. Your homework is to read about libraries in Great Britain page.

V. It is very interesting to read books in original.
We had a possibility to read electronic version of some chapters of the novel
“Alice in wonderland” by Lewis Carroll Let’s remember the plot of these chapters. Practice the vocabulary and grammar
with the help of computer course “Alice in Wonderland” Listen and read the
chapters and try to retell the plot of it.
VI. Итоги урока
So Our lesson was interesting. You have worked successfully in pairs designing
your project booklets. You have improved your speaking, reading, writing and
listening skills. You have revealed creativity and develop imagination.
