In my free time, I like to go to the cinema and listen to music. «Indiana Jones» is a good  film. The acting is great and the plot is thrilling. You should see it. I’m sure you’d love it.

«Journey to the Centre of the Earth» is an amusing film for the whole family. It is full of action and great special effects. It’s a must see. Don’t miss it.

I like «Avatar» a lot. The plot is very interesting and the special effects are amazing. A lot of the film is computer-generated. I think it’s a must-see for everyone.

Secondly, living a healthy lifestyle helps people soon get in shape and feel great. Finally, if you are fit and healthy you will have better job opportunities.

I think there are a number of easy ways to keep fit and stay healthy. As for me, I try to exercise regularly, follow a balanced diet and sleep 7 or 8 hours a day. Moreover, I avoid bad habits, such as smoking because it makes teeth yellow and skin unhealthy.

A lot of indoor and outdoor sports are in demand with teenagers in my region. In summer football is very popular because you can play it almost anywhere. In winter teenagers like going in for skiing and ice - skating because these sports activities make people feel energetic.

All in all, it is very important to keep fit because good health is above wealth.

I’d like to give a talk about the place where I live. My native city is Belgorod. It is situated in the southern part of Central Russia.

 Belgorod is famous for the Kursk Bulge Diorama. It’s a museum which was built as a tribute to the Russian victory in the tank battle on the Prokhorovskoe field during the Great Patriotic War. Another Belgorod’s famous attraction is the Drama theatre named after Mikhail Shchepkin. Moreover, a lot of outstanding people were born in Belgorod such as Svetlana Khorkina, a Russian artistic gymnast.

My favourite place in my city is Victory Park. I like it because there are a lot of trees and flower beds full of beautiful flowers in it. In my free time I love going there with my friends, and then we sit next to a wonderful fountain, look up at it and smile.

After leaving school I am going to stay in my city and enter Belgorod  State University (Belgorod Technological University, Belgorod Consumer Cooperative University, Belgorod Agricultural Academy) because it is one of the oldest universities in Belgorod and it provides good educational  opportunities for students.

This year I have chosen to do the English exam because I like this language. It is one of my favourite subjects at school. Besides, I want to travel abroad and communicate with different people. Moreover, I want to use English in my future job.

To prepare for my English exam I had grammar and vocabulary drills, wrote tests and dictations, spoke about different things in my English classes. At home I watched English films and educational programmes in the Internet.

I can do lots of things during my winter holidays. When it snows, my friends and I often go to the park and make a snowman, go sledding and skiing or play snowballs. In the evening, I usually stay at home and watch TV or read a book next to a warm fire.

 I am very pleased to suggest visiting the State Historical Museum in Moscow. It is full of interesting exhibits and visitors can learn a lot about the history of our country there.

          In my country there are a lot of national and religious holidays. The most popular national holidays are New Year’s Day, Country Defendant’s Day, Women’s Day, Victory Day and Russia Day. Christmas and Easter are the most popular religious holidays in my country.

My favourite holiday is New Year’s Day. People in Russia celebrate the arrival of the new year on December 31 st. Well, we spend a long time preparing for it. First of all, we buy lots of food. We also buy gifts for our relatives. Then, we prepare our houses. We clean them from top to bottom. After that, we decorate the New Year tree with tinsel, baubles and fairy lights. On the evening of December 31 st we invite our relatives, and we eat a big dinner together. When the Kremlin clock strikes twelve we wish each other «Happy New Year!». Soon after midnight we play party games or go into the city to watch magnificent fireworks in the streets. The city is decorated with lanterns and it’s very busy. Everyone has fun and feels happy.

 I like holidays very much because I always get lots of presents. I like seeing and opening them, too. But my favourite thing about holidays is giving presents to my relatives and to all my friends. I think that it’s great that I can make my nearest and dearest happy by doing it.

          All in all, I think that holidays are a part of our culture and we should try to keep up these traditions.

There are a lot of useful things you can do to improve your English. You can borrow English books from the library and read them, watch English films, have a pen friend and write letters to him, use educational computer programmes  or go to an English –speaking country and talk to native speakers.

My dad uses the Internet to send e-mails. He writes e-mails for work and to his friends. I use the Internet to get information. It helps me with my homework. In my free time I like sharing photos with my friends and downloading movies. (downloading some music, playing games)

We use the Internet a lot at school. We have a big computer room. We have computer classes. In our computer class we learn how to write computer programs. We also use the Internet in our English class to watch videos in English. We sometimes use the Internet in art class, too. We learn how to make our own websites. And we also use the Internet in our history class. We go online and find information. I like the Internet. It is very useful.

On the other hand, the Internet can be dangerous. Firstly, you  need to have antivirus software to protect your computer. Secondly, you should take care what information you share and with whom because there are many dishonest people on social networking sites who can even steal money from you. Moreover, you shouldn’t spend too much time sitting in front of the computer screen. This is very unhealthy and, as a result, you may become overweight.

In conclusion, I would like to say that, if you are careful, the Internet can be a great form of entertainment and communication.

I got my first mobile phone when I was 8 years old.

Do you think it’s right that mobile phones are not allowed at some schools?

I think it’s right that mobile phones are not allowed at some schools because it helps students to focus on lessons.(I think the school should have a policy for mobile phones to avoid children being inattentive in the classroom. Students shouldn't be permitted to have their phones on when they are in lessons, but be allowed to use them between classes and in breaktime.)

In what places would you recommend people to switch off their phones? Why?

In my opinion, you should switch off your mobile phone at theatres, cinemas or concert halls as their ringing may prevent people from enjoying the performance or film.

 How can mobiles harm your health?

Some people claim that overuse of mobile phones could be dangerous for people’s health. In particular, they are worried that radiation from mobiles could cause cancer.

(To avoid possible health problems we should always remember how to use our mobile phones wisely. We should send fewer text messages or use different fingers when you text or we can get thumb arthritis. We should clean our mobile phones properly or we can get a skin infection, acne or a rash.)

Secondly, travelling is a good way to study geography and practise foreign languages. Moreover, by travelling you can experience adventure, enjoy your favourite sport and get away from your daily routine.

 Some people like snow, some people like rain, but I love the sun! That’s why my favourite season for travelling is summer.  I can spend most of my free time at the beach swimming, lying in the sun and playing different games. Besides, I like snorkelling because you can see so many fascinating kinds of fish underwater.

(Since I really can’t stand the heat, I like travelling in winter, when I can go to the mountains. My family and I often stay in a log cabin and go skiing on the slopes. We also like to go trekking on the nature trails and catch a glimpse of wildlife. If we have time we also go climbing.)

I like my school because it provides good educational  opportunities for students. Firstly, we have 5 classes of English a week. We practise in reading, writing and speaking English in class. I am happy about the way I’m taught English because my teachers are very experienced and knowledgeable. Moreover, all students can learn German at my school. If I work hard at my foreign languages, I will have better career opportunities. 

I like school, but I don’t like all my classes.  I find  Monday  the most difficult weekday. The first class is chemistry, and I don’t like chemistry because it’s hard. At  twelve o’clock  it’s maths. I don’t like maths either. It’s boring.

To my mind, our school needs an interactive whiteboard for each classroom and more computers. Interactive whiteboards, for example, will help students to focus and enjoy their lessons more. Besides, our playground  should be upgraded. This will help motivate students to get active.

In my city, we celebrate New Year holiday from the 2^nd  to the 8^th of January. During these non-working days we invite our relatives and friends and we eat a big dinner together. Then, we play party games, sing songs, dance or go into the city to watch magnificent fireworks in the streets. The city is decorated with lanterns and it’s very busy. Everyone has fun and feels happy.

Yuri Alexeyevich Gagarin was a famous Russian cosmonaut. He was born on 9^th March,1934 in Klushino. His father was a carpenter and his mother was a milkmaid. At secondary school he studied Maths, his favourite subject, and Physics, After that he went to a technical school where he joined a flying club. He went to Orenburg Pilot’s school in 1955 and trained for the air force.

Gagarin became a cosmonaut in 1960. He flew into space on the Soviet spacecraft Vostok I on 12 April 1961, and became the first man in space. The flight made him a hero all over the world. The people of Russia gave him the Order of Lenin and made him a deputy of the Soviet parliament. Gagarin died in an aeroplane crash in 1968.

In conclusion, I’d like to say that people remember him as a great cosmonaut and his spaceflight is very important in astronautics.

            I’d like to go to Paris because it is full of famous sights and historic buildings. Most famous of all are the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum. They are both definitely worth a visit.

                All in all, travelling allows us to experience many wonderful things. I feel that it is the best way to learn about other people and cultures.

Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales. It is located in a national park. It stands at 1085 metres above sea level, and it is often described as the busiest mountain in Great Britain. Snowdon is very popular with tourists. If you are strong and brave enough to get to the top, you can enjoy wonderful views from there. On a clear day, you can see as far as Ireland! During the summer months there is a café at the top. There, tourists can get a welcome cup of tea, or soup if the weather is cold. If you feel too tired to walk back, you can always take the train down the mountain. The mountain railway was built in 1896. It is safe, and there have never been any accidents on this route.

I always help my parents with household chores. I make my bed and do the washing –up every day. 5.                    How do you spend your weekends?

During the weekend I usually get up late. I go shopping with my mum on Saturday afternoons and then I go to the cinema with my friends in the evening. On Sunday afternoon, I have a big Sunday lunch with my family at two o’clock. I go to bed early on Sunday night.

(On Sundays, I get up very late. After that, I walk to the city centre and do some shopping. When I come back, I have lunch and then I watch a DVD. In the evenings, I usually hang out with my friends. We sometimes go to the cinema or have dinner.)

You are going to give a talk about extreme sports. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and will speak for not more than 2 minutes.

I’d like to give a talk about extreme sports because it’s an interesting and actual topic in our life.

Extreme sports like snowboarding, bungee jumping and quad racing are very popular nowadays. A lot of people take part in these sports because they are more exciting than sports like football, basketball and tennis.

You need to follow the rules when you do an extreme sport. For example, you have to be very careful and well-trained to avoid having an accident.  You also need equipment and clothes to be safe. In particular, you need an elastic rope to go bungee jumping. You need a four –wheeled motorbike and a helmet to go quad racing.

As for me, I am not a risk taker.  I wouldn’t like to try any extreme sports because most of them are very dangerous. Besides, they  can be very expensive, as the equipment costs quite a lot of money.

(As for me, I would like to try  bungee jumping because  I find it thrilling. What is more, I believe that extreme sports can help me forget my everyday problems.)
