Устный журнал по творчеству В.Шекспира
Данное мероприятие предназначено для учащихся 9-10 классов. Оно знакомит учащихся с жизнью и творчеством великого писателя, поэта и драматурга Великобритании В. Шекспира. Его творчество почитаемо и сегодня. Особо хотелось обратить внимание учащихся на сонетах В. Шекспира, драматических произведениях. Мероприятие проводилось в рамках недели иностранного языка.

Famous people of Great Britain. William Shakespeare.

(Устный журнал для учащихся 9-10 классов)

Цели мероприятия: образовательные- ознакомление учащихся с жизнью и творчеством В. Шекспира; расширение кругозора учащихся о литературном наследии У. Шекспира;

развивающие: развитие памяти, воображения и творческой активности;

воспитательные: воспитать у учащихся чувство прекрасного, любовь к английской литературе, уважение к культуре страны изучаемого языка.

Оборудование: проектор, презентация в Power Point, магнитофон;

Музыкальное оформление: А. Пугачева: сонет из к/ф «Любовью за любовь», М. Таривердиев: музыка к кинофильму « Адам женится на Еве».

Оформление зала: выставка произведений Шекспира, стенгазета, иллюстрации учащихся к произведениям Шекспира, плакаты с цитатами:

Ход мероприятия:

Part 1. Some facts from Shakespeare’s biography.

Student 1: Dear friends! Today we will go back to the 16th century. We will speak about literature. We will speak about love and a man who sang of love.

Student 2: Have you recognised him? No doubt. The greatest poet and playwright – William Shakespeare.

Student 3:  Dear son of memory, great heir of fame

What need’st thou such weak witness of my name?

Thou in our wonder and astonishment

Has built himself a live long monument.

Student 1: To understand any author’s works, one need to know the time they lived, to know their real life. Our first page is about the biography of William

Shakespeare.

Student 2: In the year of 1564, the greatest poet saw the day.

He wrote sonnets, songs and plays,

And he was born to be in love.

His name was William, Will Shakespeare.

So, well, my friends, we thus begin.

And this is Stratford-upon-Avon, the town,

Where Shakespeare was born.(слайд 2,3)

 

Student 3: His father John Shakespeare was a glover, and gloves in the 16th century could be expensive. He prospered and held several positions in the city council. William’s mother, Mary Arden, was from a local family of good reputation. In 1596, the Shakespeares got their own coat of arms. (слайд 4)

Student 1: In his childhood William went to Grammar school founded by King Edward VI not long before William was born. Here William studied Latin, Grammar and the works of Seneca and Ovid. He could have stayed there until the age of 16.(слайд 5)

Anne:  A thousand kisses buys my heart from me;

And pay them in the leisure, one by one.

What is ten hundred touches unto thee?

And they not quickly told and quickly done?

Say, for non-payment that the debt should double,

Is twenty hundred kisses such a trouble?

 

Student 2: These are the lines from Shakespeare’s early poem Venus and Adonis.  Many critics think that it is Anna Hathaway whom Shakespeare portrayed as Venus, the Roman goddess of love.

Student 3:   Look at mine eyeballs, there beauty lies;

      Then why not lips on lips, since eyes in eyes?

Student 1: In 1582 at just over eighteen Shakespeare married Anna Hathaway, a farmer’s daughter who was twenty six. In 1583 Susanna, their first child, was born and twins Hamlet and Judith followed in 1585.

Student 2: Later William left for London. Why did he leave Stratford? We know nothing about it. It is believed  he set off for London  to seek his chance. (слайд6)  

 

Part 2 . Shakespeare’s literary work.

Student 1: When Shakespeare arrived in London there had been only 4 theatres, but by the end of his lifetime there were 12. Theatre fascinated Shakespeare since his childhood. It was a real happiness to see the performances of travelling players in Stratford. And in London Shakespeare joined the actor’s company of Lord Strange. The Globe Theatre was the centre of London’s theatrical life. (слайд 7)

Student 2: Shakespeare’s first play “A History of Henry VI” could be written for this company. Besides writing, Shakespeare performed as an actor. He wrote 37 plays, 2 long poems, 154 sonnets.

Student 3: The first period of his creative work (1590-1600) consists of comedies and histories. In this period Shakespeare wrote such histories as "King Henry V”, “King Richard II”, “King Richard III”(1592), “The comedy errors”(1592), “Romeo and Juliet”(1594), “Julius Ceasar”(1599), “As you like it”(1599), “Twelfth  Night” and others. Here the author showed historical events and dramatic characters .(слайд 8)

Student 1: All of Shakespeare’s famous tragedies appeared between 1600 and 1608. This was the second period of his literary work. In his plays Shakespeare presents great human problems. This period began with the tragedy “Hamlet” (1601). The following plays also belong to the second period: “Othello” (1604), “King Lear”, “Macbeth”.(слайд 9)

Student 2: His tragedies are superb. They are quite different from each other in subject- matter. But the lines from them become part of the English language.

Student 3: Who doesn’t know his famous lines?

1.     To be or not to be that is the question!

2.     A sea of troubles.

3.     How much sharper than a serpant’s tooth it is to have a thankless child.

4.     What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

Student 4: Shakespeare’s plays of the third period (1609-1612) are called romantic dramas: “Cymberline”(1609), “The Tempest”, “The Winter’s Tale”, “Henry VIII”.(слайд 10)

 

Part 3. Shakespeare’s Sonnets.

 Student 1: When we say “sonnet” we immediately remember William Shakespeare. Sonnets are generally love poems. Some of his sonnets glorify love to an ordinary woman whose “ eyes are nothing like the sun”. They are addressed to some unknown lady whom we call “The Dark Lady of the Sonnets”

Student 2: Sonnet 130.


 

 

My mistress’ eyes are nothing like the sun;

Coral is far more red than her lips red;

If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;

If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.

I have seen roses damask, red and white,

But no such roses see i in her cheeks;

And in some perfumes is there more delight

Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks:

I love to hear her speak, yet well i know

That music hath a far more pleasing sound;

I grant I never sew a goddess go;

My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground.

And yet, my heaven, I think my love is rare

As any she belied with false compare.

Student 3: Shakespeare’s poetry is a hymn of love. But he also knew friendship. And 126 of 154 sonnets are devoted to his unknown “Fair Friend”

Tired with all these, for restful death I cry:

As to behold desert a beggar born,

And needy nothing trimmed in jollity,

And purest faith unhappily forsworn,

And gilded honour shamefully misplaced,

And maiden virtue rudely strumpeted,

And right perfection wrongfully disgraced,

And strength by limping sway disabled,

And art made tongue-tied by authority,

And folly (doctor-like) controlling skill,

And simple truth miscalled simplicity,

And captive good attending captain ill:

Tired with all these, from these would I he gone,

Save that, to die, I leave my love alone.

Student 1: Shakespeare and his Friend were born in love with the same woman, the Dark Lady. It was upsetting for Shakespeare, because he felt he was betraying his friend. However he needed both of them, and sometimes he sounds lonely and desperate. Some sonnets are sung by famous bards.

Then hate me when thou wilt, if ever, now
Now while the world is bent my deeds to cross,
Join with the spite of Fortune, make me bow,
And do not drop in for an after-loss.
Ah do not, when my heart has scaped this sorrow,

To linger out a purposed overthrow.
If thou wilt leave me, do not leave me last,
When other petty griefs have done their spite,
But in the onset come; so shall I taste
At first the very worst of Fortune's might;
And other strains of woe, which now seem woe,
Compared with loss of thee, will not seem so.

Student 3: In sonnets we see examples of fine expression of love. It is depicted as an “overwhelming feeling”, which overcomes age, death and time itself. Love is an all- conquering feeling .(песня в исполнении А. Пугачевой).

 

Part 4. Shakespeare’s last years.

Student 1. In 1612 Shakespeare left London. He decided to live in Stratford. Since that time Shakespeare didn’t act any more  and since 1613 he no longer wrote plays.

Student 2: Nobody knows what Shakespeare did during the last years of his life. He died in 1616 on April 23. The great poet is dead but his poems and plays are not .(слайд 12)

Student 3: Read and enjoy Shakespeare’s works!

Student 4: Laugh reading his comedies, cry reading his tragedies, dream reading his poetry! His works will help you to find your way in the life. (Звучит музыка.)
