Виртуальная экскурсия на английском языке по историческому центру Нижнего Новгорода для 10 класса расширяет кругозор учащихся о своём родном городе,о его истории и о памятниках историко-архитектурных и о людях,внёсших определённый вклад в их воплощение в жизнь. Работа была подготовлена в преддверии мирового чемпионата по футболу,проведённому в России в 2018 году.

1.Good afternoon! Let us introduce ourselves.We are from school №41:……Today we are going to show you our native city- NN. And the theme of our excursion is «Historical Nizhny”!Practically all sites which are connected with the past of our city are concentrated in the upper part of the city. And we would like to start from Gorky Square. Here we are! This is the monument to Maxim Gorky. Here, from this place let`s start our excursion. Maxim Gorky is our writer, famous for his novels and stories. The writer was born and spent almost a quarter of a century there. From 1932 till 1990 our city was named in honor of Maxim Gorky. 2.Now let`s go down Bolshaya Pokrovskaya,a Russian Broadway, we`d say. It`s the main street of the city. The length of the Pokrovka is 2232 meters. It passes from Minin Square, through Gorky Square and Teatralnaya, to Lyadov Square. ... The Great Pokrovskaya street in Nizhny Novgorod is a museum in the open air. We are turning left and now we can see The local branch of the State Bank of Russia built in 1913 is one of the most interesting places for tourists to look at. Architect Pokrovsky brought to its look an air of ancient Russian palace architecture, while the interior takes us to fairy tales through the paintings of artist Bilibin. In the late XIX - early XX century in Europe, interest in national architecture was reviving. Russia was no exception. During this period, many buildings appeared in the best traditions of ancient Russian architecture and folk art. This direction in architecture received broad government support. The Neo-Russian style symbolized the idea of the continuity of Byzantium and Russia and emphasized the greatness of the Russian Empire. It was planned to store the basic values that were exported from the western border regions. As the further course of history showed, such foresight fully justified itself. This building is served as a majestic monument of the 300th anniversary of the reign of the Romanov dynasty. 3. Nikolay Dobrolyubov State Literary and Memorial Museum. NN is rich in literary museums , it `s historical past is tightly connected with literature and famous writers. It is a museum displaying the life of Dobrolyubov`s family. Alexander Pushkin , the great Russian poet, stayed here in 1833 on his way to Orenburg. To the left and to the right you can see modern sculptures made of metal. There are museums and theatres there, including the Nizhny Novgorod Gorky Drama Theater whose stage recalls performances by Fyodor Shalyapin. 4.Now we are coming to the Kremlin, that marks the historical, administrative and cultural center of the city. Here you can find Nizhny Novgorod`s oldest temple, Michael the Archangel Cathedral. Next to it there is an obelisk commemorating the Nizhny Novgorod Territory Army of 1612, and a memorial of the fallen in the WWII. The world famous Nizhny Novgorod Philarmonic Orchestra named after Mstislav Rostropovich is also located here in the Kremlin. Now we are coming down to have a look at another monument to People's Unity, which is located near the Ivanov Tower of the Kremlin. It houses the Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist of the XV century and the monument to Minin and Pozharsky. It seems that this square has been the center of gravity of Nizhny Novgorod since ancient times. It reminds our glorious historical past. 5.Nizhny Novgorod State Museum of fine arts was opened in 1894.The exhibits number more than 12000 pieces of national and foreign art. Now in front of you there is Chkalov`s Staircase and fabulous view of Strelka-the place of confluence of the Volga and the Oka. It starts from the monument to Valery Chkalov and leads to the memorial boat "Hero", which stands on the right bank of the Volga. In 1939 the Nizhny Novgorod authorities took the initiative to perpetuate the famous pilot. To the right, there are two famous mansions of Sirotkin and Rukavishnikov,well- known merchants of Nizhny Novgorod. Rukavishnicov decided to turn a modest two-story house into a luxurious manor in the style of an Italian palazzo. The third floor was added to the building, the wings of the facade, the staircase of marble. The mansion was richly decorated with stucco, parquet, atlantes, high reliefs. Eight members of the Rukavishnikov family lived in fifty rooms! The house of the merchant Sirotkin is a branch of the Nizhny Novgorod State Art Museum. Maxim Gorky played a large role in the collecting. Sirotkin practically did not live in this house, he left Nizhny Novgorod soon after the revolution.
