Television in Britain has become part of everyday life. The technological progress in this  sphere of life is evident and gives people a lot of opportunities. Modern and fist­rate TV  sets equipped with the powerful aerials broadcast channels from all over the world. Film  studios from different countries work hard to produce best soap operas, TV serials and  quiz­shows. Times are always changing together with people’s interests, style and way of thinking. Television also needs them. But these changes are not always positive. Some  TV programmes are real rubbish that affect people’s minds. Because of it they not only  teach or give information. But do much harm especially for children. Teachers blame TV  for distracting kids from their studies. Doctors give evidence that “one­eyed monster”  spoils their eyes. Psychologists confirm that it ruins kid’s conscience, lead them into the  world of illusions and virtuality. The violence on TV creates violence in real life. And  that’s true. Telly addicts watch whatever comes up. They don’t go anywhere, because  modern TV gives everything one could desire from news or sports programmes, to  theatre plays and gardening. Besides waste of time, people spend a lot of money on TV  programmes and Sky TV equipment which is expensive. The problem “with” or  “without” TV is usually solved in favour of “with” in spite of all the disadvantages. 1) Ответьте на вопросы по тексту. a.
