1. It was a dark and foggy night. We drove and drove. At midnight, just as we thought we were lost, we saw a light behind some trees. As we got nearer, we could see a house. It looked deserted, abandoned. We knocked on the heavy, wooden door. It opened slowly. A tall man dressed entirely in a black stood there. “Good evening,” he said in a slow, deep voice. “I have expecting you.”

2.We were traveling through deep space at the speed of life. Suddenly, the spaceship slowed down and immediately the system came into view. A bright star with twenty or more planets. One of these would be our new home, five light years from our own galaxy.

3. My childhood was a fairly happy one. My parents were a little strict, but they were fair and they certainly loved towards me. It was clear right from the start that they wanted the best for me, and also that they had high hopes for me.

4.“We need to be ready to attack’, said Lord Greenface. “I have received information from my spies about a plan to invade out planet and steal our research.” “Who is going to invade?” asked Kring, nervously clutching his laser gun. “And how did they find out about our research?”

5.Amy jumped out of the taxi and ran towards the restaurant. She hated being late. What if Tom had already left? She pushed open the door and saw that the restaurant was lit with hundred of candles. There was only one other person there. He turned and saw her and his face lit up. “Amy”, he smiled. “I knew you’d come”.

T: Your hometask was to retell the texts about Charles D.  and Agatha Chr. Who begins?Say a few words about your favourite  authors.

T:At last, the question for a discussion: Is   reading important? Give your arguments.

Reading books improve vocabulary and writing skills.

Books help us to solve the problems of our life.

We learn a lot of new facts about famous people, lands and countries from books.

Books help us to make new friends.

Books are useful because they learn us to plan our time and life.

Reading books is a popular hobby of people of different ages.

Books have beautiful pictures and photos.

Books are good way to relax and to spend free time in a useful way.

Books help pupils to study better and help to decide the type of person I want to be.

Books help to learn more about other  cultures, countries and peoples of the world, to discover a lot of new things, to explore new ideas.

T: OK. I am glad that we have come to  such result because reading is certainly important.

I want to finish the lesson by the saying of M. Gorky:

“Love a book! A book is a source of knowledge. And only knowledge can make us stronger and better”.
