1.Organisation.
Good morning! Take your seats and get ready for the lesson!
2. Warm up
What day is it today?
What is the weather like today? 3. Informing the theme and aims.
The theme of the lesson is:” Learn and play”. The programme for today is:
playing, doing some interesting tasks, demonstrating good knowledge of English.
We have the competition lesson. Let’s divide into two teams.
The first team is “English learners” and the 2nd is “ Lucky chance”.
Explain the names of your teams. Then choose a leader for your team.
Well done!
4. Proverbs.
We’ll start with the game “Mosaic”. Open your blue envelopes and take out the
task. You can see some mixed up proverbs. Match the beginnings and endings.
Make your guesses. The team without any mistakes will get one point.
Proverbs:

Now look at the blackboard. The next task deals with the game “ What do these
words have in common”? Explain your answer.

8.“Step by step ” game.
Next we’ll do “Every step is a word” game. Take a card on the table and name
words on the topic. Make steps and name words on the topic.

9. Picture talk
We’ll continue our games with «Picture talk». The initial letters of pictures clues
seven English words. If you work them out correctly, you will see the relationship
of these words. For example, the moon, an elephant, a newspaper, an umbrella
menu. Go on this way.

10. Game «Guess the letter on your back!» Welcome to the next game! Two persons from each team come to the blackboard.
I’ll fix the letter on your back, not showing the given letter to you. Then I’ll write it
on your back. You should fill this letter and guess. Try to write as many words as
you can beginning with this letter. And your team will make up the sentences with
your words until while the music stops. Let’s start. Good luck.
11. «Word order» game.
Now we’ll play «Word order» game. Open your green envelopes and take out
the task. Make up the right sentences out of separate words keeping word order.
That’s great. Good for you
12.Riddles.
Now we come to riddles!. Open the yellow envelopes! Read the riddles, consult
with your team and guess the riddles. You have time until the music plays. Let’s
start!

13. “Comparisons” game
Now we come to the “Comparisons” game.
Match the phrases with pictures and you’ll see the comparisons denoting human
qualities with animals’ nature, as busy as a (bee) as blind as a (bat) as hungry as a
(wolf) as free as a (bird) as sick as a (dog) as smart as a (fox)
You see we have six expressions, but only five pictures. And what animal can be
matched to the phrase “as blind as a ...?”
Fine! Well done!
III. Summarizing.
Homework.
Assessment. Well! I like your active participation at the lesson today. Let’s count your points
and see the winner of the competition. Tour homework is to choose one of the
expressions of the “Comparisons” game and to make up the dialogue in pairs. The
