Objectives:
Educational:
to teach pupils to use the language for description of daily routines and games
Developing:
to enable pupils to say time
to enable pupils to say how they spend Sunday
Sociocultural:
to raise pupils’ awareness of asking time and talking about every day activities
to develop pupils’ speaking skills
Learning outcomes:
At the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to
say the time
ask and answer the questions about everyday activities
Type: traditional, nontraditional
Interaction: group work, pair work
Vocabulary and structure:
Recycling the previously introduced vocabulary
Required equipment: Pupil’s book, Workbook, the DVD, paper; markers/ pencils
The procedure of the lesson:
The beginning of the lesson: Greeting. Checking homework and marking. 5 min
Ask the pupils to work in pairs and talk to each other about their Sunday, using the table
from the homework: e.g. I get up at 9.30 on Sunday. What about you?
Use a typical chain drill to give more practice in speaking. Ask the pupils to describe
Sunday using the question What about you? And you? Praise the pupils whose
homework is correct.
Warm up. 5 min.
Pictures of different games should be stuck on the blackboard. PP listen to the song
“School subjects” which they learned in the 2nd grade. PP change the words and sing the
song. T should help them, even T can write the words on the blackboard:
We play hopscotch on Sunday, on Sunday, on Sunday.
We fly a kite on Sunday, on Sunday, on Sunday.
We play seesaw on Sunday, on Sunday, on Sunday.
We always play games.
If PP want they can change the underlined words for another activities like “play tag,
swim in the river, play football, play volleyball, play basketball”
The main part of the lesson:
Preactivity
Activity 2. “I get up at 7 o’clock. Then ….” 10 min.
Objectives: to consolidate the vocabulary related to daily activities and time using
new words of the unit: then, after.
Teacher should prepare flashcards for daily activities. T distributes flashcards to pupils
and ask them to come with their pictures and stand in order.
e.g. 1. get up, 2. wash face and hands, 3. make bed, 4. get dressed, 5. have breakfast, 6.
go to school, and etc.
Then PP make up sentences answering to the T’s questions.
When do you get up?
When do you brush your teeth?
When do you have breakfast?
When do you wash your face and hands? What do you do before breakfast?
What do you do after washing your face and hands?
What do you do at 7o’clock?
e.g. I get up at 6 o’clock. Then I wash face and hands. Then I make my bed. I get
dressed at 7 o’clock. After breakfast I go to school.
Whileactivity
Activity 2 Work in groups of 4/5. Prepare a poster “Our Sunday”. 13 min
Objectives: to cooperative work; to give practice in writing.
STEP 1: Divide the class into small groups of 4/5.
STEP 2: Distribute paper and markers/pencils to each group.
STEP 3: Ask the groups to look at the pictures in Activity 2 and prepare their own
poster.
STEP 4: Say: ‘Write the sentences under the pictures starting with the word
“We”.’
e.g. We fly a kite.
Note: you should monitor the groups’ work and watch the time. If the groups are slow
at drawing let them make not more than 56 pictures with sentences. Ask to use ‘then,
after,’ and time as it is given in the example.
Our Sunday Activity 3 Present your poster. 7 min
Postactivity
Objectives: to consolidate the learnt vocabulary; to give freer practice in
speaking.
You can organise the presentation in two ways:
1. Invite 1 or 2 representatives from each group to make a presentation of their poster.
2. Collect all the posters, make a display on the wall from the posters, and invite 1 or 2
representatives from each group to make a presentation of the other group’s poster.
If you choose the first way, ask the pupils to use ‘we’ while presenting their own poster.
If you choose the second way, ask the pupils to replace ‘we’ with ‘they’ while
presenting the poster of the other group.
The end of the lesson: (5 min)
Marking pupils according to their participation during the lesson.
Homework:
Ask the pupils to open their Workbooks on Page 12. First, explain what to do in
Activity 1. Say that they must read the sentence and rewrite it with ‘don’t’. Work at the
first sentence together. Then ask the pupils to revise all the words from Units 12 at
home and get ready for the Revision. TEST
