Цель урока: совершенствование навыков монологической речи.

Ход урока:
T: Good morning, girls! I’m glad to see you today! How are you?
P:
T: Very well, I’m OK too. Let’s start our lesson today from a phonetic drill. Listen and read:
Yellow butter, purple jelly, red jam, brown bread.
Spread it thick,
Say it quick.
P: (read all together, alone 34 pupils)
T: OK,OK. I see you are ready to speak. And do you know that today we’ll make a journey to a
very beautiful country? It has the wonderful scenery which is changing just in front of your
eyes. What country is it?
P:
T: Quite right, it’s England. What general information do you remember about this country?
What’s its capital? Language? Population? What about its geographical position?
P:
T: That’s good. But today we’ll study this country more exactly. We’ll speak about its regions,
main activities, the principle cities and attractive places. (Слайд №1) So, the main task of our
lesson today is to speak. OK?
P:
T: But before we’ll start talking about England let’s check up your memory. Read the short
texts and match them with the names of the regions. There’s one extra name.
P: read and do the tasks
T: What’s your answers? What is extra name?
P:
T: Well, tell me, how many regions are there in England?
P:
T: What are they?
P:
T: Show them on the map, please. … , go to the blackboard. Gils, ask her to show 23 regions.
P: (2 pupils work at the blackboard)
T: Very well. Do you remember the main cities? Show some of them too. a

T: Thanks, it’s good of you. As we are travelling around England, let’s see and admire its
beautiful scenery. Look at the views of England and express your feelings. (Слайд №2,3) On

T: That’s all right. As we see, England is really different. Each region differs from the other.
Let’s say what interesting places we can visit in every part of England. We’ll try to guess them
first. It’s ex. 27 p. 113 (ex. 24 p. 108) in your books. And some of you will write what different
places in England are famous for (3 pupils get individual cards)
T: Now, say what you think these places are.
P:
T: It’s very good. And let’s listen what some of these places are famous for.
P:
T: Very well. As you mentioned Liverpool is one of the biggest ports in Britain. But it is
famous not only for this fact. It’s also a birthplace of a group which is still popular – the
Beatles. Now you will listen to a short text and do the tasks that follow. Read the task very
attentively.

T: What’s your answers?
P:
T: All right. Now you will work in small groups. You’ll get pictures of some regions – name
them and say all you can about them. Be ready to speak in two minutes.
P: (work in groups)
T: So, what can you say about each part?
P:
T: Very well, it was great. And now, I think, it’s time to have rest and do some exercises.
P: (do exercises)
T: Good. After the rest you have to do a serious task. Please, be attentive.
P: (do the test)
T: The time is over. Let’s go on working. It was interesting to listen to how you described the
regions. But let’s imagine that we have a chance to travel from NewcastleuponTyne to
Land’s End to see the country. At home you had to choose a route and explain your choice.

P: (12 with presentation if possible) T: It would be an exciting trip, wouldn’t it? Maybe someday you will really make such journey.
And now, to sum up all the information, let’s complete a postcard to your friend. Don’t forget
how to write the address.

T: I’m very glad. Today you’ve got excellent marks. Your home task is ex.34 (а) p. 116 –
