Открытый урок английского языка на тему “Christmas Quiz” в 6 классе
Цель: создание условий для воспитания уважительного отношения к культуре другой страны через ознакомление с её традициями, музыкой; формирования способности участвовать в межкультурном диалоге путем сравнения традиций наших стран.
Задачи:
- познакомить с традициями празднования Рождества в Великобритании;
закрепить в речи учащихся необходимую тематическую лексику;
- совершенствовать навыки аудирования, говорения, чтения;
- закрепить форму оформления поздравительных писем на английском языке;
- развивать творческий потенциал учащихся, приобщая их к национальной культуре страны изучаемого языка.
Оборудование: ПК, проектор, аудиозапись “Jingle Bells”, презентация на тему «Рождество», шаблоны писем, видеоролик про Рождество, ребусы, елочки и елочные шары из бумаги, минусовки песни в стиле рок и рэп, символы Рождества, задания по поиску слов на листах, конверты для писем.

Good afternoon boys and girls! Today we have an unusual lesson. Try to guess what we’ll discuss today after watching a short video (video about Christmas).
Can you name the topic of our lesson today? (Christmas)
You are right. Today we’ll get to know symbols and traditions of this holiday and get to know a lot of interesting information about Christmas. You are divided into 2 groups according to the groups at the English lesson. You will do different tasks and for every right answer you will get balls. You are to decorate the Christmas tree with these balls. At the end of the lesson we’ll see, whose Christmas tree has more balls, that team will get excellent marks, the others will get good marks.
First of all, let’s remember the main symbols of Christmas in Great Britain and in the USA (Presentation 1-22).
Ok, now let’s do some tasks. On the table there are symbols of Christmas and their names. You are to come to the table and put the name on the symbol one by one.
That was well done. The next task for you is to find words relating to Christmas in this sheet of paper. There are some pictures that will help you to remember the words.
Now you know the symbols of the holiday and let’s remember some traditions and facts about X-mas. You are to answer the questions one by one (Presentation 23-32).

Now we’ll write letters to Santa Claus as we study English and the culture of Great Britain and the USA. You have sheets of paper where you are to finish the letter and fill in the gaps. The real address of Santa Claus is on the screen (Presentation 41).
Now read your letters aloud.
On Christmas people often sing merry songs and the most popular one is “Jingle bells”. Let’s listen to and sing this song altogether. The words are on the screen (Presentation 42).
Now the task for the teams : to sing the refrain of the song in rap style and rock style. You have two minutes to prepare the task.
It was fantastic! And the last task for you: to do some rebuses. They are on the screen and on sheets of paper (Presentation 43-45).
