 “Famous travellers”  6 класс

Цель урока:  Получить и обобщить полученные знания о знаменитых путешественниках. Научить учащихся извлекать информацию из текстовых, аудио- и видеоматериалов, анализировать и использовать полученные знания на практике, развивать навыки чтения, аудирования и письменной речи. Развивать использование Past Simple в речи и письме.

Задачи урока:

1.Образовательные:

Развитие умений в чтении, письменной и диалогической речи.

Активизация изученного материала  и речевых образцов.

Развитие грамматических навыков в использовании Past Simple.

2.Развивающие:

Умение систематизировать и обобщать полученные знания.

Развитие логического и ассоциативного мышления.

3.Воспитательные

Повышение интереса учащихся к изучению английского языка.

Воспитание культуры учащихся средствами иностранного языка.

Воспитание уважительного отношения к знаменитым путешественникам.

Планируемые результаты:

К концу урока учащиеся должны овладеть информацией о знаменитых путешественниках, уметь описывать их; развивать навык восприятия и понимания иноязычной речи на слух, внимание, память, мышление.

3. Карточки с текстами о путешественниках.

4. Листочки с кроссвордом.

5. Задание “True” или “False” для работы над информацией из презентации.

6. Карточки с упражнениями на Past Simple Tense.

I.       Организационный момент. Приветствие.                  

Teacher: Good afternoon, boys and girls!

 Pupils: Good afternoon, teacher.

T.: Let’s begin our lesson! Who is on duty today?

Pupil on duty: I am!

T.: What date is it today?

Pupil on duty: Today is the 26^th of February.

T.: What day of week is it today?

Pupil on duty:  Today is Thursday.

 T.: Who is absent today?

Pupil on duty: All are present.

T.: What is the weather like today?

Pupil on duty: The weather is cold.

II. Проверка домашнего задания.

OK, children! Now it’s time to check up your home work! You had to make up the word-combinations  with new words and words ”city, beach, castle, valley”. (Учащиеся выходят к доске и записывают словосочетания на доске).

E.g. a beautiful city, an ancient castle.

And your second task was reading the new words. (Учащиеся читают слова по очереди).

III . Введение темы урока. Речевая зарядка.

T.: Ok, children! You did your homework very well! Now, please, look at the blackboard and say what our today’s topic is.

Ps.:  Famous travellers

 T.: That’s right.

T.: And the motto of our lesson is “The world is a book and those who do not  read only a page of it” (St.Augustine). Today we shall speak about the famous travellers.

1. What is a traveller? (A traveler is a man who travels around the world)
2. What kind of transport can people travel by? (car, bus, ship, plane, train)
3. What do you need for travelling? (transport, food, map, money)
4. What famous travellers do you know? (Columbus, Cook, Polo, Nikitin, Bering, Hudson)
5. What famous Kazakh traveller do you know? (Shokan Ualihanov)
6. Who discovered America? (Christopher Columbus)

     Задание “Try to guess a traveller”

      (На доске размещены портреты)                                            

T.: Look at the blackboard. What travellers can you see in the pictures? (Учащиеся называют путешественников).

T.: Your task is to read the short texts with information about these travellers, to translate them and to try to guess to what travellers they refer to. (Класс делится на четыре группы. Учитель раздает карточки с текстами, учащиеся в течение нескольких минут переводят тексты, затем каждая группа читает тексты, переводит их, называет путешественника о ком говорится в каждом из текстов и прикрепляет описание возле портрета).

Т.: Ok, children! You have guessed the name of famous traveller Christopher Columbus. Now I want to give you more information about this traveller. Then you must do a task according to the information! (Чтение информации о жизни и открытиях Колумба).

Christopher Columbus

Christopher Columbus was born in Genoa, Italy in 1451. Living by the Mediterranean Sea he longed to be a sailor. He began sailing on Italian ships at the age of 14. When Columbus was 25 he was sailing on a ship headed for England.

Columbus opened a shop that sold maps and books for sailors. There he became a map maker and began reading books. He read a book written by Marco Polo. Columbus was fascinated by Polo's book. After reading this book Columbus was sure he could reach the Indies by traveling west. He wanted to go to the Indies to get jewels and spices.

Columbus went to the king and queen of Spain: King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella to ask them for three ships to try out his idea of traveling west to reach the East.

Queen Isabella refused Columbus at first. Later King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella gave Columbus three ships, a crew of about ninety men, and some money. The three ships were the Niña, Pinta, and Santa María.

On August 2, 1492 the voyage began.

On October 12 after 71 days at sea land was sighted. Columbus and his men rowed ashore and planted a flag in the sand. They claimed the island which they named San Salvador for Spain. Since Columbus believed he was in the Indies he called the natives Indians. Columbus had really landed on an island southeast of what is now Florida.

In March 1493 Columbus sailed back to Spain with a few Indians. King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella named him Admiral of the Ocean Sea.

Columbus sailed to America three more times in 1493, 1498, and 1502. He found San Salvador and then Cuba which he called Juana, but he found few riches on his voyages. He died a man of average wealth on May 20, 1506 in Spain.

Христофор Колумб родился в городе Генуя, Италия в 1451. Живя у Средиземного моря он хотел быть моряком. Он начал плавать на итальянских кораблях в возрасте 14 лет. Когда Колумбу было 25 лет, он плавал на судне идущем в Англию.

Колумб открыл магазин, который продавал карты и книги для моряков. Там он стал изготовителем карт и начал читать книги. Он прочитал книгу, написанную Марко Поло. Колумб был увлечен книгой Поло. После чтения этой книги Колумб было уверен, что он мог бы достичь Индий путешествуя на запад. Он хотел поехать в Индии, чтобы получить драгоценности и специи.

Колумб пошел к королю и королеве Испании: Королю Фердинанду и Королеве Изабелле, чтобы попросить у них три корабля, чтобы попытаться осуществить идею путешествия на запад, чтобы достичь востока.

Королева Изабелла отказала Колумбу сначала. Позже Король Фердинанд и Королева Изабелла дали Колумбу три судна, команду около девяносто человек, и немного денег. Три корабля были Нинья, Пинта, и Санта Мария.

В марте 1493 года Колумб отплыл назад в Испанию с несколькими индейцами. Король Фердинанд и Королева Изабелла назвали его Адмиралом Моря-Океана.

Колумб плавал в Америку еще три раза в 1493 г., 1498 г., и 1502 г.. Он обнаружил Сан Сальвадор, а затем Кубу, которую он назвал Хуана, но он нашел немного богатства в своих путешествиях. Он умер человеком среднего достатка 20 мая, 1506 года  в Испании.

T.: Well, boys and girls! At the lesson we have learned a lot new information about the famous travellers, the names of some famous travellers, about Columbus’s discoveries and we have revised Past Simple Tense.
