Тема: «Save the environment».
Тип урока: Урок обобщения в виде прессконференции, на котором обсуждаются не
только глобальные проблемы экологии, но и экологические проблемы региона.
Образовательные задачи:
Расширить и закрепить языковые знания и навыки, развивать
коммуникативные умения.

Воспитательные задачи:
прививать чувство любви и бережного отношения к окружающей среде, чувство
ответственности за место, где ты живёшь.
Развивающие задачи:
развивать навыки аудирования, чтения, монологической и диалогической речи.
учить решать самостоятельно проблемы на основе изученной лексики.
Наглядные пособия: Опорные картинки, аудиозапись к учебнику,
карточки с заданиями, плакат с изображением
дерева, нарисованные листья, презентации

Ход урока
1.Beginning
Teacher(T): Good morning! I am glad to see you.
Pupils (Ps): Nice to meet you too.
T: Take your seats, please.
P: We are ready for the lesson. All the pupils are present today.
T: Thanks.
Introduction of the lesson
T: Well, let’s start our work. The title of our lesson is «Save the native». What are
we going to speak about? P1: We are going to speak about camping, the word around us and litter.
T: we shall speak about ecology, pollution, influence of a man on the environment The result
of our work will be a project. What do you think we are going to do?
Ps: We are going
To speak English a lot
To listen to the tape
to sing songs
to do a crossword
to write promises
Now listen and repeat: air, water, nature, forest, ocean, environment, to breathe,
oxygen, ecological, protect, rubbish, camping.
Translate these words: окружающая среда, атмосфера, дышать, кислород,

II. The aim of our lesson is to revise the material and to sum it up.
Today at the lesson you see the pupils of two groups, they will do different tasks together, work
in groups, discuss different problems and compete
III. Introduction to the lesson, motivation.
Look at the slides and answer the questions.
T: What is the environment? – P1: Environment means what is around us.
T: Some people live in a town environment. What is a town environment? – P2 answers
T: Other people live in the countryside environment. What is the countryside environment? – P3
answers.
T: Where do you prefer to live in a town environment or in the countryside environment? Why?
– P4, P5 answer.
T: Parts of the environment are: The water we drink. The soil on which we walk. The air we
breathe. Do you agree? – P6 answers.
T: Now the ecological situation in the world is very serious.
We speak about ecology at our classes, understand the importance of keeping our environment
clean, because we want to live, not to die.
IV. Warming – up. Different tasks. The first task is to remember and write as many words as you can on topic “ Man and Natural
World”, beginning with these letters. Turn to each other, work in groups. I’ll give you three
minutes. Then pupils of each group will read them in turn.

V. The press conference.
Now let’s discuss the problem “ The Ecological Situation In Russia and in our Region”. We’ll do
it in the form of the “ round table”.
The participants of the “ round table” are: a member of the Russian Federation, the head of the
region, a weatherman, an ecologist, a doctor and representatives of mass media.
Here are samples of the participants’ reports and mass media representatives’ questions: A
member of Russian Parliament:
Some days ago I returned from the trip around our country. I visited industrial cities, saw our
forests, lakes & rivers, met different people. And I must say that ecological situation in Russia is
very dangerous.
The head of our Region: The ecological situation in our Region is also very serious. We face
the same ecological problems as other regions in Russia. A weatherman: We, weathermen, are worried about the climatic changes. Recently climate has
changed a lot in our country. Some scientists think the world is becoming hotter. These changes
can be dangerous for our fragile planet.
An ecologist: Man kills birds, animals. Forests are cut down for different uses. If we go on like
this, soon all the forests on earth will be destroyed.
A doctor: It may sound funny to you, but man needs protection and care as much as birds,
animals do. Nowadays people suffer from serious diseases and die early, their children are born
weak because of the ecology. No medicines prescribed by the doctors can help them. This
problem becomes more and more serious with every passing year.
Representatives of Mass Media (correspondents of magazines, newspapers, radio, TV).
Questions to the MP:
What are the most serious ecological problems now?
In your opinion, is pollution a very serious problem nowadays?
Why are cars dangerous for the people in towns and cities?
What does our government do to solve ecological problems?
Questions to the head of the Region:
Is water in the Wolga safe to drink? Can children & their parents swim in the river in
summer?
Are nuclear tests carried out on the territory of your Region?
What natural resources are discovered on the territory of your Region?
What measures are taken to improve the ecological situation in your Region ?
Questions to the weatherman:
What can you say about the climate in Russia?
What do you know about the greenhouse effect?
Why does the atmosphere become warmer?
Do you think our planet needs protection? Why?
Questions to the ecologist:
What endangered animals & plants can you name? Why are they disappearing?
What is “ The Red Data Book”? (a book on rare, disappearing animals)
What is the situation with forests nowadays?
What should be remembered if we want to have a healthy life in future?
Questions to the doctor: How do changes in the climate influence the people’s health?
Where can people get medicine to cure them?
Can doctors cure all the illnesses?
What is the modern way of life? how does it influence the people’s health?
VI. Summing – up.
Let’s sum it up.
T: What are the most important environmental problems?
P7: The most important environmental problems are:
Pollution in its many forms.
Noise from cars, buses, planes.
Destruction of wildlife & countryside beauty.
Shortage of natural resources.
The growth of population.
Now let’s speak about camping. Do you like it?

P1: I like camping. In my opinion is a real adventure, because we can cook on a
campfire and sleep in tents. We can swim, go fishing, play games. It’s good to be
in the open air.
P2 : I think camping is fun. I often go in the forest with my friends or my class.
P3 : I hate camping, you walk all day and you carry a heavy backpack. You are
very tired in the evening, but you have to go and pick up some wood for the
campfire. Then you eat disgusting burnt potatoes. When you finally get into your
sleeping bag, you can’t sleep. Somebody snores, mosquitoes sit on your nose, the
ground is hard and cold. Is that fun?
T: I see some of you like camping and there are pupils who don’t like it.
Now look at these pictures. What litter do we find at the campsite?
P4 : Everything is awful!
P5 : Somebody cut down trees.
P6 : Somebody make a campfire in the forest.
P7 : Somebody polluted the water and killed the fish.
P8 : And somebody left the litter.
T: That’s right, the word around us is in danger. We must protect the nature,
because the Earth is our home. We must keep it clean, nothing is forever and
nature is getting tired. If we don’t stop and think today, tomorrow the Earth could
die. Tomorrow we’ll have no air to breathe, no water to drink. What must we do with litter? We know the toxins from litter will pollute the
atmosphere. Now listen to the text about how people in England protect the
environment.

T: How do they protect the nature?
P1: They sort their rubbish. There are special factories which recycle materials.
P2: They never drop litter in the street.
P3: They use camping stoves and never make campfires.
T: So, how can you help the nature?
You will write your promise on leafs from the Cut Out page in your workbook.
Then we’ll make a project «Green Tree».
