Тема: Традиции и обычаи в Великобритании

Группа: студенты второго курса СПО

Время реализации занятия: 90 минут

Цели занятия:

образовательные:

- совершенствовать навыки устной речи (монологической, диалогической) на основе изученного материала по теме «Традиции и обычаи в Великобритании и России»;

- совершенствовать аддитивные навыки по теме;

- совершенствовать навыки чтения текста с общим пониманием;

- закрепить и систематизировать знания студентов об образовании и случаях употребления Present Continuous Tense.

Развивающие:

- формировать способности и готовность вступать в иноязычное общение;

- развивать способности к анализу, сравнению, формулированию выводов;

- совершенствовать навыки использования электронных ресурсов;

- совершенствовать навыки самостоятельной и групповой работы.

Воспитательные:

- воспитывать толерантное отношение к особенностям иноязычной культуры;

- способствовать формированию личностного отношения к изучаемым проблемам и формированию мировоззренческой позиции.

Методические:

- активизировать мыслительную и самостоятельную познавательную деятельность студентов в процессе обучения;

Ход занятия:

1. Организационная часть

1.1 Организационный момент. Приветствие. 

Good morning  students! Nice to see you. I hope you are fine today!
Is anybody absent today?  Are you ready for the lesson? Let’s start working.

1.2 Речевая разминка.

Answer the questions:

1.     Do you like traveling?

2.     Have you ever been abroad? What countries have you visited?

3.     What foreign country would you like to visit? Would you like to visit Britain once?

4.     Is it important to learn about country’s traditions before visiting it?

1.3 Сообщение темы и задач урока.

We have some words on the blackboard, let’s read and translate them:

Garden, custom, polite, castle, Halloween, Christmas, tea

Now think of the words, look at the pictures on the screen (Приложение 1) and try to guess the topic of our lesson.

So, today we are going to know more about British customs and traditions.

Read the text and fill in the table below, write down main information on the given headlines.

British Customs and Traditions

Traditions... Every nation and every country has its own customs and traditions. Some of them are old-fashioned and few people remember them, others are part of people's life. Englishmen are proud of their traditions and carefully keep them up.

Self-discipline, reserve, courtesy, and dignity are features typical for English people of all classes. They don't like to show their emotions even in dan­gerous and tragic situation. Englishmen are natural­ly polite. They always say "Thank you", "I'm sorry", "I beg your pardon", etc. The remarkable politeness of English people are known all over the world. If you follow anyone who is entering the building or a room, he will hold the door open for you.

The English are stay-at-home people. "There is no place like home", they say. When they don't work they like to spend their days off at home with their families. The Englishman also prefers his own house to an apartment in a block of flats. He doesn't like to be watched by his neighbours. "An Englishman's house is his castle". Englishmen are very fond of fire-places, that's why many of them prefer the open fire to central heating.

They are fond of gardening and very proud of their gardens. It is well known that English people like animals. Usually, there is a pet in every English home. Alongside with the pictures of their family they always have a picture of their pets: a cat, a dog, a bird, etc.

When we say "Bowler hats, tea and talks about the weather", we can immediately see the image of an Englishman.

They say that English people keep to their tradi­tions even in meals. For his breakfast an Englishman usually has cornflakes with milk and sugar (porridge if he lives in the North), fried bacon and eggs, mar­malades on toast and tea with milk, of course.

At offices and factories there is a tea or coffee break at eleven. Between 1 and 2 there is lunch time in Great Britain. Englishmen are fond of good plain food. They like beefsteaks, chops, roast beef, fried fish, chipped potatoes. A meat course is served with plenty of vegetables: peas, beans and cauliflower. Tea drinking is quite a tradition with the English 5 o'clock tea is not usually served at the table. Each person has a cup and saucer and a spoon in his hand. They drink strong tea with sugar and cream or milk. Such tea is known as English tea. Tea with lemon is called 'Russian tea' in England.

The evening meal has different names: tea, high tea, dinner or supper. It's usually a meat course fol­lowed by tinned fruit or cake and tea. In the evening English people like to go to the local pubs for a drink of beer and a pleasant talk. They really enjoy their style of life.

2.5. Введение темы «Настоящее длительное время», групповое составление рассказов по картинкам.

Today we are going to learn how we can describe something happening right now. We need Present Continuous Tense for this purpose.

Present Continuous – это настоящее длительное время, которое используется для обозначения действий, происходящих в данным момент времени (в момент речи). Это время обозначает незавершенное действие. Главными маркерами в этом случае являются наречие ‘now’ и существительное с предлогом ‘at the moment’. Примеры:

I am doing my homework now. (Сейчас я выполняю домашнее задание).

Look at her! What is she doing? (Посмотри на нее! Что она делает?)

We are speaking with our teacher at the moment. (Мы говорим с нашим учителем сейчас).

Present Continuous также используется для обозначения временных действий, которые происходят временно, но необязательно в момент речи. В данном случае характерными маркерами являются выражения времени, такие как ‘these days’, ‘this week’, ‘today’. Примеры:

I am in Paris. I’m learning French here. (Я в Париже. Здесь я изучаю французский.)

Для образования Present Continuous мы используем соответствующую форму глагола ‘to be’ (am для первого лица единственного числа; are для второго лица единственного числа и первого, второго и третьего лица множественного; is  для третьего лица единственного числа) и инфинитив смыслового глагола, добавляя к его основе окончание ‘-ing’.

Team work

Используя глаголы в настоящем длительном времени и план с доски, студенты составляют описания картинок с изображением традиции (Приложение 3), разбившись на две группы Студенты из первой и второй подгруппы зачитывают получившиеся рассказы. Жюри оценивает правильность рассказов.
