Cheerful English

Aims: To develop the students` interests in the subject of English, to widen their scope;

To develop communicative skills and abilities through extra curricular work; to cultivate the feelings of love and responsibility to motherland;

Good afternoon, dear teachers, students and guests! Welcome to our intellectual game ``Cheerful English``. We are glad to see you and we hope that you`ll enjoy today`s game. Today our pupils of the 9^th and 10^th grades will show their knowledge of English. I`ll call the participants of the game.

Today we spend with you the next out – of class work on-development of speech and intellect.

It is called Cheerful English.

Game includes such rounds:

I.                   «Baiga» (Answer the question)

II.                «Live and learn» (Жұмбақтар – Riddles - Загадки)

III.             Proverbs – Мақалдар – Пословицы

IV.            Logical questions

Let`s introduce our Juries……………..

 Every correct answer makes  points. Your totals will be counted by our teachers. After  3 rounds he who have the  least total, will quit the game.

Ok, let`s listen to pupils` introducing themselves in short.

 In this round participants must answer the questions. For every correct answer is received

7.     The traditional drink of British people? (tea)

8.     What famous and favourite almost for everyone sport created in England (football)

10. The British money is…..(pounds)

11. ``How many letter saretherein Kazakh alphabet``? (42 letters)

12.  What river does London stand on? …..( the Thames)

13. The language spoken in Scotland is….( Scottish)

14. What holiday do Kazakh peoplecele brate on the 22^nd of NAuryz? (Nauryz toy)

15. What colour istheflag of Kazakhstan? (Blue)

16. What`s the name of the most famous clock in Britain?...... (Big Ben)

II.  ``Riddels`` (жұмбақтар шешу)

Келесі сандықта жұмбақтар бар екен. Жұмбақтың жауабын қазақша, орысша және ағылшынша айтамыз.

1.     Тонын киіп туған,

Жалап бетін жуған. ( мысық-кошка-cat)

2.     Қабат-қабат қаттама,

Ақылың болса аттама. ( кітап-книга- book)

3.     Үй артында шоңқайма,

Буы шығып тұрмайма?

Салпаң құлақ келеді деп,

Қорқа-қорқа тұрмай ма?  (ит-собака-dog)

4.     Шіркіннің өзіне обал-ақ,

Жүреді аяқта домалап. (доп-мяч-ball)

Round 3. Пословица всем делам помошница.

There are four participants here. Soon we will know who is the best. The next task is English proverbs. You most find a necessary word. Two proverbs is for everybody. For the correct answer gives 1 point.

Round 4. Logical questions
There are 2 participants here. The last round is interesting. The last task logical questions. One question is for everybody.

2.     In a family there are husband wife, two sons and two daughters. All the ladies were invited to a dinner. Both sons went out to play. Husband did not return from office. Who was at home?
