Author: Look! Here is a grandfather. He counts the potatoes.

Grandfather:

One potato, two potatoes, Three potatoes, four. Five potatoes, six potatoes, Seven potatoes, more.

Bad one.

Author: Grandfather comes up to the turnip.

Grandfather: What a big turnip! One, two, three! (Pulling the turnip out)

Turnip: I’m very, very big.

Author: Let’s call Grandmother.

Grandfather: Grandmother, come here! Help me, please!

Grandmother: Well, I’m coming!

Author: Grandmother comes up to the turnip.

Grandmother: What a big turnip!

All together: One, two, three! (Pulling the turnip out)

Characters: Mouse, Hare, Frog, Fox, Wolf, Bear.

 

There stood a small wooden house (teremok) in the open field. A mouse ran by:

- Little house, little house! Who lives in the little house?

Nobody answered. The mouse went into the house and began to live there.

A frog hopped by:

- Little house, little house! Who lives in the little house?

-I am a mouse. And who are you?

-I am a frog. Let's live together.

So the mouse and the frog began living together.

A hare ran by. He saw the house and asked:

- Little house, little house! Who lives in the little house?

-I am a mouse.

-I am a frog. And who are you?

-And I am a hare.

The hare jumped into the house and all of them began living together.

Then there came a fox. She knocked on the window:

- Little house, little house! Who lives in the little house?

-I am a mouse.

-I am a frog.

-And I am a hare. And who are you?

-And I am a fox.

The fox climbed into the house too.

A wolf ran by:

- Little house, little house! Who lives in the little house?

-I am a mouse.

 

 

-I am a frog.

-And I am a hare.

-And I am a fox. And who are you?

- I am a wolf.

The wolf climbed into the house too, and they all started living together.

A bear walked by. He saw the house and roared:

- Little house, little house! Who lives in the little house?

-I am a mouse.

-I am a frog.

-And I am a hare.

-And I am a fox.

-And I am a wolf. Who are you?

-And I am a bear!!!

The bear started climbing onto the roof and - crushed the whole house!

All of the scared animals ran away in different directions!

Mouse: I am a little grey mouse.

I want to live in this house.

Author: Oh, look! A frog is jumping.

Frog: Oh,       what a           nice    mitten! Knock - knock!

Mouse: Who are you?

Frog: I am a little green frog.

I like to sit on the log.

Mouse: Come in, please!

Author: Oh, look! A hedgehog is running!

Hedgehog: Oh, what a nice mitten! Knock - knock!

Animals: Who are you?

Hedgehog: I am a hedgehog, a little one.

I like to play. I like to run.

Animals: Come in, please!

Author: Oh, look! A hare is hopping!

Hare: Oh.     What a nice mitten! Knock - knock!

Animals: Who are you?

Hare: I am a little white hare.

I can hop. I can stop.

Animals: Come in, please!

Author: Oh, look! A fox is going!

 

 

Fox: Oh, what a nice mitten! Knock - knock!

Animals: Who are you?

Fox: I am a fox.

I am clever and red.

I like meat. I like bread.

Animals: Come in, please!

Author: It is so dark in the forest. But the animals are happy.

They have got a little wonderful star.

Animals: (*the song).

Twinkle, twinkle, little star

How I wonder what you are! Up above the world so high, Like a diamond in the sky.

The Crane and the Fox Characters: Crane, Fox, Chorus of children.

 

Scene I

Crane: Good morning, Mrs. Fox!

Fox: Good morning, Mr. Crane! I’m glad to see you. Crane: How are you?

Fox: Excellent, thanks. And you? Crane: I’m O.K. But I’m very hungry.

Fox: (the song)

Come to dinner! Come to dinner!

Ding, dong, dell! Ding, dong, dell!

Soup, meat and potatoes. Soup, meat and potatoes. Ding, dong, dell! Ding, dong, dell!

The Fox has 2 plates with food. But the Crane can’t eat it. Crane: Thank you very much.

Scene II

Fox: Good evening, Mr. Crane!

Crane: Good evening, Mrs. Fox! Fox: How are you?

Crane: I’m fine, thanks. And you?

Fox: I’m O.K. But I’m very hungry. Crane: (the rhyme) Come to supper!

Monday, Tuesday - meat and fish.

Wednesday, Thursday - bread and cheese.

Friday, Saturday - sandwich, sausage. Twice on Sunday - porridge, porridge.

The Crane has 2 jugs with food. But the Fox can’t eat it.

Chorus of children: (*the song) He eats chicken soup for lunch Every day at noon.

The Fox and the Crane are running around the table. The Fox is very angry. She tries to catch the Crane.

The Leg

Characters: Mr. Roberts, The Nurse, Dr. Clark, Dr. Campbell.

 

(Mr. Roberts is in the waiting room)

Nurse: Good morning, sir. Have you got an appointment?

Mr. Roberts: Yes, I’ve got an appointment with Dr. Clark at 12 0’clock. My name’s Roberts.

Nurse: Oh, yes, Mr. Roberts. You came last week about your leg, didn’t you?

Mr. Roberts: It’s still very bad, you know.

Nurse: Don’t worry, sir. Take a seat, and the doctor will be with you in a minute. Mr. Roberts: Thank goodness. The pain is really awful.

(The doctor comes in.)

Dr. Clark: Good morning, Mr. Roberts. Is your leg feeling any better? Mr. Roberts: No, it’s getting worse. I can hardly walk. Dr. Clark: Now, calm down. I’m sure it’s nothing serious. I’ll get your report from Dr. Campbell.

(Dr. Clark is leaving the room when he meets Dr. Campbell.)

Dr. Campbell: Hello, George. Have you decided what to do about your dog?

Dr. Clark: Yes, I have. It’s very sad. Poor old Robert.

Mr. Roberts: Roberts!!! They’re talking about me. Dr. Campbell: Are you going to get rid of him?

Dr. Clark: Well, I haven’t got any choice. The trouble is, he is getting so old.

Mr. Roberts: Me? I’m not old. I’m young!

Dr. Campbell: And his legs are completely useless, aren’t they.  Mr. Roberts: My legs! Completely useless!

Dr. Clark: Yes and he’s got an infection in his eyes. He can’t see a thing.

Mr. Roberts: My eyes! There’s nothing wrong with my eyes.

Dr. Clark: I’ll have to shoot him when I get home. (Mr. Roberts stands up, horrified.) Mr. Roberts: Oh, no!

Nurse: What on earth is wrong?

Mr. Roberts: They are going to shoot me!

BANK ROBBERY

Characters: Cashier, Customer, Bank Robber.

 

(A customer comes into the bank)

 

Ca:  Good afternoon, sir. Can I help you?

Cu:  Yes. I’d like to cash a cheque for five pounds, please. Ca: Certainly. Here you are, sir.

Cu:  Thank you very much. Good afternoon. Ca:  Good afternoon. Oh! It’s three-thirty. It’s time to close the bank.

(Входит грабитель и несёт ружьё)

Robber:  This is a hold-up! Everyone stands against the wall!

Cu:  Uh! It’s a hold-up?

R:  That’s right. It’s a hold-up. Ca:  I beg you pardon, sir.

R:  I say this is a hold-up. Hurry up! Hang over the money!

Ca:  I’m terribly sorry, sir. I’m afraid the bank is closed.

R:  But I’m a dangerous criminal! This is a gun!

Cu:  If you don’t give him the money, he will kill us!

R:  That’s right. Unless you do as I say I’ll shoot you! I’m a very violent person. Ca:  Well, I’m a cashier of the bank of the USA. I’m not allowed to serve customers after three-thirty.

R:  But I’m not a customer. I’m a bank robber. Anyway it’s only twenty-five past three.

Ca:  No, no. My watch is always right. It’s twenty-eight minutes to four. R to Cu:  What do you make the right time?

Cu:  Well, I … make it … twenty-eight minutes to four as well.

Ca:  You see. I’m afraid the bank is closed. If you came back before 3.30, I’d be glad to serve you.

R:  Oh, all right. I’ll come back tomorrow at a quarter past three. Ca:  Fine. See you tomorrow. Good afternoon, sir!

Alice in Wonderland

 

`You look a little shy; let me introduce you to that leg of mutton,’ said the Red Queen.

`Alice — Mutton; Mutton — Alice.’ The leg of mutton got up in the dish and made a little bow to Alice; and Alice returned the bow, not knowing whether to be frightened or amused.

`May I give you a slice?’ she said, taking up the knife and fork, and looking from one Queen to the other.

`Certainly not,’ the Red Queen, very decidedly: `it isn’t etiquette to cut any one you’ve been introduced to. Remove the joint!’

And the waiters carried it off, and brought a large plum-pudding in its place.

`I won’t be introduced to the pudding, please,’ Alice said rather hastily, `or shall we get no dinner at all. May I give you some?’

But the Red Queen looked sulky, and growled `Pudding — Alice; Alice — Pudding. Remove the pudding!’ and the waiters took it always so quickly that Alice couldn’t return its bow.

However, she didn’t see why the Red Queen should be the only one to give orders, so, as an experiment, she called out `Waiter! Bring back the pudding!’ and there it was again in a moment like a conjuring-trick. It was so large that she couldn’t help feeling a little shy with it, as she had been with the mutton; however, she conquered her shyness by a great effort and cut a slice and handed it to the Red Queen.
