It is a big cultural, economical and industrial city. It is situated on the both banks of the river Voronej so it has 21 bridges over the river. The oldest bridge is in Sovetskaystreet. It was built in 1948. Only 3 bridges have their names. The widest bridge is 26,2 m. The longest bridge is 531,5 m. and the shortest is 8,7 m. Lipetsk is a big industrial center because 48 000 people work at Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) plant. Also there is metallurgical plant "SvobodnySokol", a tractor factory LTZ, a pipe factory, a factory for refrigerators and household appliances and chemical factories. Industry is mainly located south of the Voronezh River. Lipetsk is a cultural center too. It has 66 schools, 1 university and many colleges. Health care system is rather good too because there are a lot of hospitals for people with very good medical equipment. Lipetsk is one of the oldest mud bath resorts in Russia (first opened in 1805). Peat mud is used to treat patients. Sulphate and chloride sodium water is used for therapeutic baths and drinking. Lipetsk has a Russian standard public transportation system with buses, trolleybuses and marshrutkas. The cost of ride is 17 RUR. There is no underground because the city population is not so high.Lipetsk Airport is located about 15km north-west of the city centre.Lipetsk Bus Station is located quite far from the city centre, however lots of public transport connect it with the centre as it is located on a main street. There are 739 streets which are rather wide, clean and green in summer. Also Lipetsk has 23 squares where you can have a rest.
