Урок на тему: Сколько стран, столько и обычаев .
Урок по теме: «So many countries, so many customs.»
Цель: обобщить пройденный материал по теме.
Задачи урока:
1.Продолжить формирование навыков аудирования, монологической речи,
чтения, лексики и грамматики.
2.Систематизировать раннее известные сведения о Великобритании, США и
России.
3.Расширить представление учащихся новой информацией об этих странах.
4.Воспитывать у учащихся интерес и ценностное отношение к культуре и
истории англоязычных стран.
Тип урока: урок обобщения и систематизации
Формы обучения: групповая, индивидуальная, парная
Оборудование:
слайды; карточки с прилагательными, с текстом;
аудиозапись песни «Which land is the best?”магнитофон.

T: Good morning, boys and girls! Glad to see you! How are you today? Today we
have the final lesson on the topic “So many countries, so many customs”. We shall
talk about Great Britain, the USA and Russia, read the text, answer the questions
and sing the song.
II.Warmup.
T: By the way, children, What’s the Russian for:

III.Vocabulary work.
T: What’s the Russian for “country”?
P: Страна, сельская местность.
T: Now, let’s recite the poem “A Question” by Edith Segal. Children, listen the
poem attentively and tell me, please. What question you can find in it.
Some people live in the country
Where the houses are very small.
Some people live in the city.
Where the houses are very tall.
But in the country where the houses are small,
The gardens are very big,
And in the city where the houses are tall,
There are no gardens at all.
Where would you rather live?
T: Well done! In this poem you can see a question “Where would you rather
live?” What does it mean?
P: It means: Would you live in the city or in the country?”
T: Now you are getting sheets. The task is to find the adjectives describing life
in the city and in the country. Do it in pairs!

T: Let’s speak about Great Britain, the USA and Russia. Your home task was
preparing some interesting facts about these countries.
Great Britain
England became a great country at the beginning of the 11th century.
In 1066 William the Conqueror became the King of England.
The Great Fire of London was in 1666.
London is the capital of Great Britain.
The heart of London is the City.
There are a lot of sights in London. For example: Trafalgar Square,
Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament.
The USA
Christopher Columbus discovered America in 1492.
The name of the ship that sailed from England to America was “Mayflower”.
The first president of the USA was George Washington.
There are 50 states in the United States.
The capital of the USA is Washington DC. There are many places of interest in the city. There are: the White House, the
Capitol, the Statue of Liberty.
Russia
Russia is the largest country in the world.
Russia is situated on two continents: Europe and Asia.
The Volga is the longest river in Europe.
The old Russian towns on the Volga are: Volgograd, Astrakhan, Samara,
Saratov.
Yuri Dolgoruky founded the capital of Russia – Moscow – in 1147.
The symbols of Russia are a birch tree, also its national flag, twoheaded
eagle.

T: Now I want you to remember the ways people celebrate holidays in different
countries. You will listen to my stories and name the country and the tradition.
1.This is the biggest holiday of the year. Many people enjoy it most of all and say
that this is the main holiday of the year. People send cards and decorate their

houses. Parents tell their children that Santa Claus will come
to their houses at night and leave presents for them. (The
USA, England, New Year.)

2.This holiday lasts for a week. During this week people
always cook pancakes. People celebrate it at the end of
February or at the beginning of March. During this holiday
they celebrate the end of winter and the beginning of spring.

3.People celebrate this holiday on the last Thursday in
November. It is perhaps the most important day in the year.
People go to church, and families come together. They
decorate their houses with fruits and flowers of autumn and
prepare traditional food: roast turkey, potatoes and pumpkin.
The turkey has become a symbol of this holiday since 1621.

4.Children go out into the streets on the 5th of November with
figures like scarecrows. They stand on the streets and squares
asking for the usual “Penny for the Guy”. Then they buy
fireworks and burn the guy on the bonfire. (Great Britain,
