9. Презентация города Красноярска
Teacher: Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to our presentation of Krasnoyarsk at the “World Association United Cities and Local authorities” («Всемирная организация объединенных городов и местных властей»).
First we’ll listen to the history of our city. Then our students will tell you about the symbols and the best places of our city showing the pictures with the sights of the city. And then we’ll represent Krasnoyarsk as an industrial, economic and cultural center of Siberia.
Let’s begin our presentation.
a)Some words about the founder of Krasnoyarsk Andrew Dubensky
I’m Andrew Dubensky. I am the founder of Krasnoyarsk. My ancestors were originated from Smolensk area. I was the second and the last son in the family. I came to Siberia having the lowest rank for the noble-man – “a boyar’s son”. And I improved my official and estate status. I came to the mid Yenisey in 1628. I commended a detachment of 300 Cossaks. We built a new fortress to protect the state from the steppe bribes. I was the first voyevoda. I did all my best to strengthen the Russian position on the mid Yenisey. I acted very skilful kissing arts and diplomacy.
b) The main symbol of our city is Coat of Arms.
Krasnoyarsk’s coat of arms
Krasnoyarsk has its own coat of arms which lion is depicted. Lion is a symbol of Krasnoyarsk power and wealth. It holds a spade in right hand. The spade in lion’s hand symbolizes the wealth of natural resources inside the land. The natural resources are coal, oil, gold, iron and others. The lion holds a sickle in its left hand. The sickle symbolizes the wealth on the land. It shows that our soil is very fertile. The coat of arms is also depicted on the flag of our city.
c) Krasnoyarsk is situated on the Yenisey river. And it is our symbol too.
The Yenisey river
Krasnoyarsk is situated between two rivers: small Kacha and great Yenisey. The Yenisey is the deepest river of Russia. And love to Krasnoyarsk begins as love to the Yenisey river. This great river is a symbol of boundless expanse, because it runs its waters from far away to another distant land. It is like a road, along which the time floats and goes to the eternity. The Yenisey gives people the impression of absolute openness and freedom. The location of Krasnoyarsk on the great river makes it the gate to enter the international market through the North Sea Way. The image of the Yenisey is in our streets too. All main streets follow the river current and transverse streets go to the river. And some words about the small river Kacha. Last years this river was given much care. It was cleaned and “smartened up”.
d) The next ancient symbol is The Chapel.
The chapel Paraskeba Pyatnitza and new symbols
The famous chapel of Paraskeba Pyatnitza on the Karaulnaya hill stands like a vigilant observer for more than three centuries. It is the symbol of eternal memory of those who died defending our town. It is our relic and the symbol of our city.
Modern Krasnoyarsk has some new symbols. They are : 1) the clock tower of the Krasnoyarsk city administration building and its nickname is “Big Ben”; 2) the monument of the city founder Andrew Dubenskoy; 3) the history gate, which was built in the place where the first Krasnoyarsk stockaded town was founded; 4) the monument to the outstanding artist Andrey Pozdeev; 5) the “Tsar Fish”sculpture in the sight area.
e) The suburbs of Krasnoyarsk are very picturesque. And our city is famous for its natural reservation Stolby.
The Stolby
The suburbs of Krasnoyarsk are very picturesque and especially our “Stolby”. That is the wonderful natural miracle which attracts Krasnoyarians and tourists of our city. The first description of the “Stolby”was made 150 years ago. But famous Krasnoyarsk artist Suricov once said: “I have seen the Swiss and Italian Alps, but I have never seen a beauty like this …”. The most popular area of the Stolby is the place where all famous rocks are located. Those are: “Perya”, “Ded”, “Granny”, “Granddaughter”, “Mitra”, “Lion Gate” and “Dikarek”. The higest rock is “The second Stolb”. Our nature is remarkable, wonderful and mysterious.
