Compere: Happy New Year, dear children and grown-ups!

All together: Happy New Year!

Compere: I'm glad to see you. I hope you'll enjoy our English party. Now think about the name for your team and elect your captains.

Команды придумывают себе названия. Одна из них называется 'Snowball', другая - 'Snowflake'. Стук в дверь. Пришли первые гости: мальчик (New Year) и девочка (Ice Princess). New Year: I am the little New

Year, ho, ho! Here I come jumping

over the snow, Shaking my bells with

a merry din - So open your doors

and let me in!

Ice Princess:

Presents we bring for each and all - Big folks, little folks, short and tall; Each one of you a treasure may win - So open your doors and let us in! New Year:

Some shall have silver and some shall have gold.

Some shall have new clothes and some shall have old;

Some shall have brass and some shall have tin -

So open your doors and let us in!

Ice Princess:

Some shall have water

and some shall have milk;

Some shall have satin

and some shall have silk!

But each of you

a present may win -

So open your doors

New Year: Do you like to guess riddles?

Ice Princess: We have some for you. Now listen carefully.

Ребятам предлагается отгадать несколько загадок. Отгадавший получает приз.

New Year:

Higher than a house,

Higher than a tree -

Oh, what can that be? (The sky.)

Ice Princess:

One face, two hands.

It goes yet stands. (A clock.)

New Year:

The outside is a shell,

The inside is meat,

It grows on a tree

And is good to eat. (A nut.)

Ice Princess:

It gives us milk

And butter too.

It's very kind

And likes to moo. (A cow.) New Year:

Pupils and teachers write on me with chalk. I can't write, I can't talk. (A blackboard.)

Ice Princess:

It's blue by night,

By day it's white.

It is cold and not dry,

It falls from the sky. (Snow.)

New Year:

Fat and gay, on a winter day,

He came here with us to stay.

But day by day he grew sad and thin,

And so we brought his younger brother in. (A calendar.)

Compere: I see you are very good at guessing riddles. Dear Ice Princess and New Year, you can join our teams.

New Year and Ice Princess (together):

When windows are frosty And icy in places, I like to write letters, And draw funny faces, Or flowers or houses Or maybe a cat - I really wish windows Were always like that!

Compere: Will two pupils from each team who like to draw and to write come up to me? Now the 'painters' stay here and the 'writers' go out. Draw things and animals, which I name. That'll do. Come in, 'writers'! Write the names of these things and animals. Do it as quickly as you can.

Для участия в этом конкурсе приглашаются по два ученика от каж­дой команды. У доски, на которой закреплен лист ватмана, расчерчен­ный на 10 клеток, остаются «художники». В то время как они выпол­няют задание, двое учащихся выходят из комнаты. Ведущий быстро называет предметы по-английски и считает до трех. Задача «художни­ков» - нарисовать названные предметы. Двое учащихся, войдя в ком­нату, должны подписать нарисованные предметы по-английски. Боль­ше очков получает команда, первая справившаяся с заданием, не допустив при этом ошибок.

Compere: But where is Father Frost? Let's send him an invitation! To send him telegrams we must have telegraphists. I need two persons from each team.

В конкурсе принимают участие по два ученика от каждой команды (телеграфисты). Один телеграфист, получив записку с текстом теле­граммы, передает по буквам ее содержание второму, записывающему буквы на доске. Содержание телеграммы прочитывает команда. На­пример:

Come today. We love you.

Под мелодию песни 'Jingle Bells' появляется Дед Мороз.

Father Frost: Happy New Year, dear friends! I see you are having a competition. But do you like to sing songs? Do you know any songs about winter, frost, Ice Princess or New Year?

Каждая команда исполняет по одной песне на английском языке.

'I Wish I Were a Snowman'

I wish I were a Snowman,

so tall and big and white. I'd never have to clean my teeth,

or go to bed at night. But maybe Mister Snowman

summer comes, but where will the Snowman be?

Father Frost: Wonderful! I hope you can solve my puzzles as well. Take these envelopes!

Дедушка Мороз вручает командам по одному конверту. В них на листочке бумаги написаны буквы OWNShSRFTO. Учащимся предлагается составить из букв слова (snow и frost). Задание выполняет вся команда. На работу отводится 2 минуты.

Father Frost: My pets in the forest want.to make the New Year wall newspaper, they've taken a photo of themselves but they cannot write their names. Could you help them?

Дед Мороз приглашает самых младших членов команд. Ребята по­лучают две страницы «Лесной газеты» с фотографиями зверей и соответствующее количество карточек с их названиями. Следует приклеить карточки к фотографиям. Ребята выполняют задание в соседней комнате, где заранее приготовлено все необходимое для такой работы (клей, кисточки и т. д.).

Compere: And now we have a special task for the captains. Come up to me, please!

Father Frost: Let me see who'll do it best. Say if it is right or wrong.

Он обращается к капитанам команд по очереди.

Father Frost: Frogs can fly; Pigs are green; You have no tail; Women like mice; You have a bat in the fridge; Children like ice-cream and sweets.

Father Frost: Do you know the poem 'Three Little Kittens Lost Their Mittens...'?

Находится много желающих прочитать это стихотворение, так как ребята знают его наизусть.

Father Frost: Good for you! Do you want to make a present for the kit­tens? Take this pair of mittens and try to decorate them. You can draw whatever you like but you can use only seven sentences. Please remember that your mittens must look the same.

Дед Мороз предлагает капитанам раскрасить варежки. Команда и капитан получают пару вырезанных из бумаги варежек. Одна варежка остается у капитана, вторая у команды. Капитан садится к команде спиной. Члены команды начинают разрисовывать свою варежку, рассказывая при этом своему капитану как можно точнее, что, где и каким цветом они раскрашивают. Больше очков получает капитан, чья пара варежек точнее совпадает по рисунку с тем, о чем рассказывали ребята.

Compere: You are to build 'ice-bridges' for your captains if you want to get them back. But be careful - if you make any grammar mistakes your bridge will crack and your captain will be out of the game.

Ребятам предлагается построить «мосты» на полу из грамматически правильных предложений. Для этого ведущему следует иметь доста­точно большое количество слов, написанных на отдельных карточках, которыми дети смогут воспользоваться.

Compere: Do you like fairy-tales, kids? Let's try to compose some! Be­gin your stories with my sentences. 'We went to the forest yesterday'. 'We looked at the sky at 12 p.m.'.

Команды выполняют задание по очереди. При подсчете очков учи­тываются логическая последовательность изложения, оригинальность сюжета, правильное грамматическое и фонетическое оформление. Задание выполняется в быстром темпе, каждый член команды имеет возможность сказать 1-2 предложения.

Father Frost: Great! Now I want to see which of you is best at finding a treasure. Get these secret messages and start your treasure hunt.

Каждая команда получает от Деда Мороза «секретное послание» с указанием определенного места. Там ребята находят записку с указа­нием другого места и т. д., пока не будет обозначено непосредственно то место, где лежит клад. Кладом служат две большие шоколадки.

Примерные варианты записок:

It is in the classroom cupboard.

It is under the computer.

It is in the box on the window-sill.

It is over the blackboard.

It is in the desk.

It is in the jug on the bookshelf.

После того как клады найдены, команды самостоятельно подсчи­тывают очки. Сделать это довольно просто,-поскольку в качестве очков команды получают конфеты. Дед Мороз вручает подарки. Вместе со Снегурочкой и Новым годом он прощается с детьми.

В заключение праздника можно предложить сыграть сценку из кни­ги Ф. Баума 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz', подготовленную заранее.

Dorothy Gets Friends

Characters: Dorothy, Toto, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, the Lion.

Scene I

На сцене на фоне декорации кукурузного поля возвышается Страшила. Мимо проходит Дороти с Тото на руках.

The Scarecrow: Good day!

Dorothy: Can a scarecrow speak?

The Scarecrow: Certainly. How do you do?

Dorothy: I'm well, thank you. How do you do?

The Scarecrow: I am not feeling well. I am tired of being here night and day.

Dorothy: Can't you get down?

The Scarecrow: No, I can't do it myself. Can you help me?

Dorothy: With pleasure! (Дороти помогает Страшиле спуститься на землю.)

The Scarecrow: Thank you very much! Who are you and where are you going?

Dorothy: My name is Dorothy and I am going to the Emerald City to ask the Great Oz to send me back to Kansas.

The Scarecrow: Do you think Oz can give me some brains? My head is stuffed with straw but I don't want people to call me a fool.

Dorothy: I cannot tell, but you may come with me if you like.

The Scarecrow: Thank you!

Dorothy: Don't mind Toto. He never bites.

The Scarecrow: Oh, I am not afraid. The only thing I'm afraid of is a lighted match.

(Дороти с Тото и Страшила уходят со сцены, напевая песенку на английском языке.)

Scene 2

(Дороти и Страшила входят в лес. Услышав громкий стон, они замирают на месте.)

Dorothy: What was that?

The Scarecrow: We can go and see.

(Пройдя несколько шагов, друзья увидели за деревьями Железного Дровосека.)

Dorothy: Did you groan?

The Tin Woodman: Yes, I did.

Dorothy: What can I do for you?

The Tin Woodman: Find an oil-can in my cottage and oil my joints.

(Дороти убегает и возвращается с масленкой.)

Dorothy: Where are your joints?

The Tin Woodman: Oil my neck first.

(Страшила помогает Дороти, поворачивая голову Дровосека и сги­бая ему суставы.)

The Tin Woodman: Now oil the joints in my arms. Oh, this is a great comfort. Now oil the joints of my legs, please.

(Железный Дровосек делает первые шаги.)

The Tin Woodman: I'm very grateful to you! You've saved my life. How did you happen to be here?

Dorothy: We are going to the Emerald City to see the Great Oz.

The Tin Woodman: Why do you wish to see Oz?

Dorothy: I want him to send me back to Kansas. It is my homeland.

The Scarecrow: And I want to ask him to put some brains into my head.

The Tin Woodman: Do you think Oz can give me a heart?

Dorothy: Why, I guess so.

The Tin Woodman: If you allow me to join your party, I'll also go to the Emerald City and ask Oz to help me.

(To Scarecrow) Brains are not the best thing in the world. Some years ago I was a real man, I was in love. I was the happiest man on earth. But no one can love without a heart!

The Scarecrow: All the same I shall ask for brains instead of a heart!

The Tin Woodman: But I shall take a heart!

Scene 3

(Раздается страшное рычание, выскакивает лев. Он расталкивает всех в разные стороны и раскрывает пасть, чтобы проглотить Тото. Но Дороти заслоняет своего друга.)

Dorothy: Don't bite Toto! Shame on you! A big beast like you, to bite a poor little dog! You are nothing but a coward!

(Лев сконфуженно отступает назад.)'

The Lion: I know I am a coward. But how can I help it?

Dorothy: What makes you a coward?

The Lion: It's a mystery. I think I was born that way.

The Tin Woodman: But that isn't right. The King of Beasts shouldn't be a coward.

The Lion: It is my great sorrow and it makes my life very unhappy. Whenever there is danger my heart begins to beat fast. Dorothy: Perhaps you have a heart disease. The Lion: It may be.

The Tin Woodman: It proves you have a heart! The Scarecrow: Have you brains? The Lion: I suppose so. I've never looked to see. The Scarecrow: 1 am going to the Great Oz to ask him to give me some, for my head is stuffed with straw.

The Tin Woodman: And I am going to ask him to give me a heart. Dorothy: And I am going to ask him to send Toto and me back home to Kansas.

The Lion: Do you think Oz can give me courage?

The Scarecrow: Just as easily as he could give me brains.

The Tin Woodman: Or give me a heart.

Dorothy: Or send me back to Kansas.

The Lion: Then if you don't mind I'll go with you!

Dorothy: You will be very welcome.

The Scarecrow: You will help to keep away the other wild beasts. The Tin Woodman: It seems to me that they must be more cowardly than you are.

(Вместе со зрителями герои сказки исполняют песню 'Place to Be', прощаются и уходят со сцены.)
