History

The history of Hollywood and its formation is very interesting. Hollywood got the name thanks to spouses of the Wilcox. At first they bought the land where Hollywood is now, and then they started building and selling lots of land to rich men.

It was the end of the 19th century. The first film studios started to appear in the 20th century and soon Hollywood became a place where the largest movie companies were situated and where the most known and richest stars lived.

What is Hollywood?

Hollywood is known to each person today, it is an enormous film studio where the majority of the world films are shoot.
Great actors and stars live here.

Hollywood and Highland Center is the biggest entertaining center. There are famous constructions all over the world: theatre Kodak and the Mann’s Chinese theatre.
The largest concerts and holidays are held here too.

The Mann’s Chinese theatre – the most important building in the Hollywood Boulevard. People come to watch the premiere of famous films here. Everybody dreams to be the first of seeing the premiere, but the entrance here is provided for only selected people.

There is well-known “Roosevelt Hotel” in the heart of Hollywood. This hotel has already become a part of history and it is very popular today.

Theatre Kodak – a superpopular place in the Hollywood Boulevard. The annual presentation of the most popular award “Oscar” is hosted here.

Walt Disney - the American film director, the actor and the producer, the founder of company “Walt Disney Productions” which was renamed media empire “The Walt Disney Company”.

Many names became famous thanks to Hollywood. All of us remember actors and actresses such as: Charlie Chaplin, Merlyn Monroe, Vivien Lee and etc.

Look at these faces. All of us know these people. We enjoy their creative achievements. They have brought an important contribution in the history of Hollywood and continue to do it.

Angelina Jolie

The American actress, the owner of the award “Oscar” and three awards “Gold globe”.
The first role of Angelina Jolie was in the cheap film “The Cyborg 2”. This film didn’t bring Angelina glory. But after working in the movie "Hackers" Angelina became famous.

Then Jolie played in different films, which promoted the progress of Angelina Jolie as an actress.

Today Angelina Jolie is one of brightest young stars.

The first film in Hollywood was in 1914 and called “The Squaw Man”.

Both ups and downs were in Hollywood film industry. Hollywood is famous now. Directors of films are famous all over the world. Actors get offers and nothing says about the crash of Hollywood.

Walk of Fame

All stars dream to get on Walk of Fame. The first star put on 9th February 1960 and it belongs to Joann Woodward.
About 2500 stars were identified at the Walk of Fame.

The award “Oscar”

“Oscar” was awarded every two years till 1934. This tradition takes place from 1929. This award is annual one now. The award is presented by the American Film Academy.

The award “Oscar” – treasured dream of all celebrities. So, it is handed every year in 24 nominations.

Golden Globe Awards

Golden Globe - the American award, which is presented Hollywood association of a foreign mass media since 1944.

The first formal awarding was held in 1954 at the 20th Century Fox studio. After that the award became an annual one.

Hollywood fairy tale

For many people Hollywood is a fairy tale, where people from covers, popular serials and films live. They are untouchable idols.

And Hollywood is a fantastic palace, where they live. Maybe, Hollywood it is a fairy tale with a happy end.
