During the study I used three methods: analysis, the searching method and the analytic one. 3 CHAPTER 1 1.1 What is fashion? Fashion  is a style of clothing that is popular at certain era or time. It is a habitual style not only in clothing, but also in footwear, accessories, hairstyle, make­up, perfume and even hi­tech devices. It’s a manner of doing something as well. Life in modern society is far more controlled by fashion than people actually realize. The style we choose is largely influenced by media resources, such as TV, fashion magazines, blogs, posters. It is noteworthy that in old days fashion has reflected a person’s social class, more than his or her personality. One can easily express himself or herself through clothes. Many young people prefer wearing bright, colorful items to get noticed and to show their subculture. 1.2 Why is fashion so popular? So many men, so many minds! First of all, fashion makes people creative on everyday basis. To choose what to wear and what fits with it makes a person think and use creativity. Secondly, the process of dressing up and using their imagination can make people extremely happy. Last, but not the least, fashion is an important part of different cultures and religions. For example, in India, women like wearing sari. It’s a nice female garment that is wrapped around the waist. Wearing a sari has become a peculiar tradition, handed from one generation to another. 1.3. The history of fashion The history of fashion is rather interesting. The modern industry of fashion houses has started not so long ago. The founder of the Haute Couture industry was Charles   Frederick   Worth.   He   was   the   first   person,   who   in   the   19th   century 4 designed the labeled pieces of clothing. Until then there was Victorian era of dresses with several layers, Baroque style dresses with plenty of buttons and lace, Renaissance robes with adorned necklines and skirts, modest Medieval dresses with long hemlines, and even ancient Greek and Roman loose tunics. Today, Paris, Milan, New York and London are recognized capitals of fashion, so everybody follows the standards set by well­known fashion houses, situated there. 1.4 What does fashion depend on? Most   of   us   say   that   fashion   depend   on  famous   designers,  because   they interpret fashion for us.   And of course it is necessary to mention these people. Famous   Italian   designer   Giorgio   Armani   with   his   with   elegant   and   exclusive styles; Coco Chanel and her best selling perfume; famous Fashion Designers of classy wears Valentino Garavani;   American designer Calvin Klein and his eye wear,   underwear   and   perfume.   And   of   course   Russian   Vecheslav   Zaycev   and Valentin       Yudashkin.  But these and many other people just come up with fashionable clothes for us, but all their notions are based on different styles of life. The choice of people will be always dependent on age, social status, climate conditions, and of course religion. All we have our own life style and it is the main reason what does fashion depend on. 1.5 The styles of clothing Let’s look through the basic styles of clothing Classic or conservative style.  It is simple, traditional style that is always fashionable. Clothes of this style are unemotional. The colours are usually pastel.  Romantic style. Here you can see a lot of frills and flounces. The colours are soft, pastel with many flowers. For men in this style there are different vests, scarves, shirts with wide sleeves and hats.  5 Sports style  is rather free. Clothes are bright, beautiful and suitable for different kinds of sports. It is also very practical and comfortable. The most common and popular style is Casual style. It is everyday practical and  comfortable  clothing.  This  style   can  combine  elements   of   other  styles.  It includes city casual (everyday city), business casual and sport casual – just with elements of sport clothes. The most dangerous style is  extravagant style.    Unusual cuts, the use of asymmetry,   non­standard   parts   and   flashy   colors.   Sometimes   it   can   be   even slangy(вульгарный).  The next style is Safari style mainly for travelling, with elements of military uniform. Sand­colored clothes with many pockets and bright hat with small fields. Military style. Clothes with elements of military suit. The main colors are Gray­green, olive and khaki. Folk style – includes just elements of national clothes  Eco Style  ­ the most ancient and natural style of clothing. The colors of earth, grass and sand. Fabrics are used only natural. So, we can see, that there are a lot of different styles but of course we should remember that own taste, age and mode of life determine person’s style in clothes.  6 CHAPTER 2 2.1 Fashion in Gorno­Altaysk In my work we tried to analyze the opportunity of people in Gorno­Altaysk to follow the fashion. In my town there are different fashionable shops such as: O’stin, TVOE; Sport   Master;   Gloria   Jeans.   There   are   also   local   fashionable   shops   such   as: “Svetlana”, the shop of outwear “Laplandia” and others. Gorno­Altaysk   is   rather   small   town   and   very   often   people   prefer   to   go shopping in the nearest cities such as Biysk and Barnaul. There people can find more shops of fashion clothes such as “Mango”, “Incity”  and clothes of popular brands as Addidas, Reebok and so on. Nowadays the popularity of internet shops grows very fast. There people can buy any fashionable clothes they want. 7 2.2 The Survey among the sixth­year students of the Gymnasium #3 To reflect the teenager’s attitude toward fashion I hold the survey among my classmates. So, 12 pupils were interviewed. 80% follow the Fashion and think that it is very important to be on trend. The other 20% think that fashion is useless thing. The survey shows that the most popular fashionable shops among teenagers are Sport Master, Addidas and Gloria Jeans. The main sources from which they know about last trends are TV, Internet and their friends.   Our survey shows that fashion is really popular nowadays and most of us follow it trying to be on trend.   8 2.3 Fashion Dress Spring­Summer 2016 So, we decided to give you short information about fashionable dresses in summer and spring 2016 If you want to be on trend this season, don’t forget to buy:  1. Caps, long jackets and leather jackets. 2. Slacks, covering shoes and ankle. 3. Trench coats with buttons and cuffs 4. Suits and dresses look like pajamas and combinations. 5. Crop tops combined with long jackets, pants and skirts. On   trend   will   be   the   combination   of   sports   accessories   with   studs (шпильки), skirts and dresses.   As   for   the   colours,   it   is   quite   diverse.   Blue,   green,   coffee   with   milk, chocolate and white will be very popular. Men's Fashion 2016  will combine traditional motifs and bold ideas. Men will wear loose trousers, pink, bright blue, yellow, green ties, and blue jeans. 9 Trousers   should   be   tight­leg   or   straight.  It   will   combine  with   tight   and   loose jackets, shirts and sweaters.
