Тема: «Функции руководителя фирмы»
Вид занятия: практическое, с
элементами деловой игры
Цель занятия:
обучающая: сформировать иноязычную языковую компетенцию; обобщить и систематизировать знания студентов; сформировать умения и навыки самостоятельной работы.
развивающая: развитие фонематического слуха и языковой догадки; развитие
внимания и расширение объема оперативной памяти, коммуникативных качеств
студентов.
воспитательная: воспитание культуры сотрудничества при работе в
коллективе, умения группового взаимодействия и уважения к партнерам по команде.
Приемы обучения: метод «Комплименты», видео - аудирование по теме «Four Functions of Management», презентация по теме «Функции руководителя фирмы», деловая игра «I am the Manager!», метод «Ваш новый компьютер».
Средства обучения: карточки настроения, видео «Four Functions of Management», презентационный материал, раздаточный материал для проведения деловой игры «I am the Manager!» - бейджи, карточки – обязанности.

1. Организационный этап
Преподаватель активизирует внимание студентов. Проверяет готовность группы к занятию.
Преподаватель: Good day, dear students.
I am very glad to see you. Sit down, please. Is anybody absent today? Why is he
(she) absent? Does anybody know the reason?
How are you? I’m fine, thank you.
Now let’s check your mood. I ask you to pick up a card, the color of which corresponds to your mood. Interpretation of colors is given on the slide, where: red - happy, orange - content, yellow - joyful, green - neutral, blue - bad.
Yes, I see that the mood in the group is different and I suggest to improve it by making a compliment to the neighbor in the class in English.

Are you ready to work? I’m glad to hear it. Let’s begin our lesson.
Today’s lesson is rather unusual because there are a lot of guests. So I wish you to be more attentive, confident and active and as a result we’ll work productive and favorable.

Преподаватель: The theme of our today’s lesson is «The Functions of the Company Manager». And the aim is to generalize and systematize knowledge about the functions of the company manager.

Преподаватель: The head of the company in English means a "manager". And what you can manage depends on what area you want to work in. For comparison, remember the profession of a doctor: first there is a general course, and then specialization begins - surgery, dentistry. The same thing happens with the managers! The list is almost endless: the manager on advertising, selection of the personnel, on public relations, it not including any office-managers, brand-managers and others.
Of course, the work of all these "managers" is somewhat different. In short, a professional company manager should be competent in many areas and know a lot. Today we will try ourselves in some spheres a real company manager should be a wise apple.

Преподаватель: Many people wonder about the differences between leadership and management. Are they mutually exclusive? Do professionals have both qualities—or do they learn one or the other over a long period of time? These questions are just the tip of the iceberg. Let’s take a look at both.
What is leadership? What is management?
- Leadership and management are synonyms.
- The main difference between leaders and managers is that leaders have people follow them while managers have people who work for them.
What do managers do?
- They establish work rules, processes, standards and operating procedures.
- They should focus on organizational goals and objectives.
What traits of character should a manager have to?
- A manager should be a real professional.
- A good manager should be flexible and confident.
- The most important quality of a manager is the ability to deal with other people because the profession of a manager is connected with communication.
- A good manager should be intelligent.
- He must have leading ability.
And what do leaders do?
- A leader doesn’t have to be a company manager; a leader can be anyone.
- Unlike managers, leaders are followed because of their personality, behavior, and beliefs.
5. Применение знаний, закрепление умений и навыков
Преподаватель: You are right. Unfortunately, not all managers are leaders. Some managers have poor leadership qualities, and employees follow orders from their managers because they are obligated to do so—not necessarily because they are influenced or inspired by the leader.
Now let’s watch a video “Four Functions of Management” to get more information in that field. There you will hear the following unknown words and word combinations.

- Who is an applicant?

Преподаватель: You are employees of the same organization. You are a team, but you have different responsibilities! Now everyone gets the test-card depending on his duties in the company.

Преподаватель: It was really great! You tried yourself in different positions in the office of a design and architecture studio. You have coped with all the tasks. We generalized and systematized knowledge about the functions of the company manager.
