Introduction

I would like to introduce to you a British politician - Theresa May.
Theresa Mary May is a British statesman and politician, Prime Minister of Great Britain (from July 2016 to May 2019). Today Theresa May is also the leader of the Conservative Party.

Theresa May's early years and education

Theresa May was born on October 1, 1956 in Eastbourne May's family was strict, patriarchal. Teresa's father and mother were Protestants. As it is known from Teresa's biography, she learned grief early. Her father died in a car accident when Theresa May was a student, and soon the girl lost her mother, who could not survive the loss of her spouse.

Theresa May's primary education took place first in a public and then in a private school. After that, the girl entered Oxford University, after which she received a bachelor's degree in geography.

Theresa May's work career

Theresa May began her career at the Bank of England (1977-1983). Then in the biography of the future prime minister there was a job as a financial consultant and senior adviser on international affairs of the Association for Payment of Clearing Services (1985-1997).During this period, Theresa May was elected to the local council of the London borough (administrative unit of the district level) of Merton, where she worked from 1986 to 1994.

Theresa May's political career

In 1992, May participated in the parliamentary elections in the North West Durham constituency and in the 1994 snap elections in the Barking constituency, but lost. Failure did not stop Theresa May. She continued to participate in subsequent elections and in 1997 was elected for the first time as a member of the House of Commons of the British Parliament from the newly formed constituency of Maidenhead in Berkshire.

Theresa May is the shadow leader

Although all these years (from 1997 to 2002) Theresa May held minor positions in the Conservative shadow government, in 2002 May became the first female chairman of the Conservative Party. Teresa dealt with technical issues of ensuring the functioning of the party apparatus.

2003-2005 Theresa May continued to hold positions in the shadow government: She was Shadow Minister of Transport and at the same time Shadow Minister of Food and Environment, and from May to December 2005, May was appointed Shadow Minister of Culture, Media and Sport

In December 2005, she became shadow leader of the House of Commons, and in 2009-2010 she served as Shadow Minister for Work and Pensions, according to Theresa May's biography on her website.

Theresa May's Exit from the shadows

The 2010 elections, as it is known from the biography of Theresa May, allowed her to "get out of the shadows." May was appointed Minister of the Interior, in addition, she received the portfolio of Minister for Women and Equality.

David Cameron has announced that he will hand over the powers of Prime Minister to Theresa May on July 13. Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain accepted his resignation and gave an audience to Theresa May, at which she invited her to form a new government. Theresa May gave her consent and thus became the 13th Prime Minister of Great Britain appointed by Queen Elizabeth II during her reign since 1952 and the second woman in the history of Great Britain to hold the post of Prime Minister (after Margaret Thatcher).

In 2017, Theresa May took second place in the list of the most influential women in the world according to Forbes magazine.In 2018, The Daily Telegraph reported that Prime Minister Theresa May may be dismissed by the ruling Conservative Party in the spring of 2019.In December 2018, the Prime Minister of Great Britain received the support of the majority of conservatives and retained her post as Prime Minister of the country and leader of the ruling party

On May 24, Theresa May decided to resign as leader of the Conservative Party and, accordingly, Prime Minister.

In conclusion, I would like to say that Theresa May, in my opinion, is a great politician who has done a lot for her country. I believe that Theresa May can be called a person of the 21st century.
