With verbs ending in -e, we only add -d in the past simple positive.

With verbs ending in a consonant and –y , the -y changes into –ied

With verbs ending in a vowel and -y, we add –ed

With single-syllable verbs ending in a vowel and a consonant, we double the consonant and add -ed
