Landslide on the Kolsai Lake
In the 19 April there was a landslide in the Almaty region near Lake Kolsai“
The volume of the landslide on April 21 is more than 50 million cubes, the length is 1700 meters, the width is 900 meters.
The mountain mass moves to the bed of the Kolsai river. There is a threat of overlapping the riverbed, which may entail the formation of a new lake.
Now all engineering measures are envisaged to prevent such a case. Even if the mountain mass will still block the riverbeds, then we are working out ways of releasing water, by using heavy equipment and blasting. For this purpose, specialists are working now and there is no danger to populated areas, but the road to the Kolsai Lakes is blocked.
