«Побратимские связи Дарэма и Костромы имеют давнюю
историю и не прерывались даже когда отношения между
нашими странами переживали трудные времена. Я думаю, что
личные контакты очень важны: они позволяют ближе узнать
друг друга, увидеть, что при всех различиях у нас много
общего. Надеюсь, что ниточки, связывающие людей из
Костромы и Дарэма, будут прочными и дружба наша будет
продолжаться долгие годы.»

“What do you think about
when you hear the word
“Kostroma”?”
I feel pleased because I
remember my Russian
teacher friends who greet
me and look after me when
I visit and the students
who have written email to
me after my visits…
I like all the people who
I have met. They are kind
and like to help.

“What do you think about
when you hear the word
“Kostroma”?”
Kostroma is a word that makes me feel
warm and happy as I have many friends
there.
I have visited lots of places and been to a
lot of schools.
I remember walking on the ice of the
Volga, going to theatre shows, the circus,
many wonderful meals both in restaurants
and family homes, parties and visits to
different places, such as Susdal and Pliosk.
John Alexander Redman
“What do you think about
when you hear the word
“Kostroma”?”
When I hear the name Kostroma I think of the great
area of pine forest and the road that winds through to
take us there. One time it was like a movie with snow
as far as the eye could see. Another time there was no
snow and the countryside was like Northumberland .
I then think of the town and how much larger it was
than I expected with many schools , it's Concert
Hall and Art Gallery . It is a bustling busy town with
good amenities shops , market and supermarket ,
different types of housing apartment blocks as well
as old timber buildings .
I think of the friendly , hospitable people there
who were good company and helpful in showing me
Russia.
Abel Susan Mary
