“СОЕДИНЁННОE КОРОЛЕВСТВО ВЕЛИКОБРИТАНИИ И
СЕВЕРНОЙ ИРЛАНДИИ”
Цель: расширение кругозора учащихся о
достопримечательностях, культуре Соединённого Королевства Великобритании и Северной Ирландии.
Задачи: развивать навыки говорения,
чтения, письма и аудирования,
развивать память, внимание, мышление, интерес к культуре анлоязычной
страны, воспитывать культуру общения.
Оборудование: таблицы, иллюстрации.
Procedure
1.Greeting.
2. The main part.
T: Today we are going to make a very enjoyable trip to a wonderful country, the United Kingdom. You’ll have an exciting excursion about its places of interest. Our first station is “A quiz about sights, symbols of the United Kingdom and famous British people”. Your teams can get one point for each correct answer to the following questions.














17. Name the capitals of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
18. Who was called “An Iron Lady”?
19. What are the main colours of the Union flag?
20. What is the famous airport in London?
21. Who is the Head of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northen Ireland?
22. Name the English author as the Queen of Crime.

T:The second station is “The role game”. You will play the role of guides and tourists. Imagine that you are in London. Make up your own dialogues about places of interest.
Dialogue
- Ladies and gentlemen. We are in the Tower of London. It is 900 years old. Its stones can tell you a lot of interesting stories.
- Oh, it is dark here.
- You are right. The windows are small and the walls are three metres thick.
The Tower was a royal place but then it became a prison.
- Oh, we see ravens near the walls.
- We believe that they bring good luck to Britain. If the ravens fly away the Tower of London will fall down. Of course, it is a legend. According to our tradition the Tower is guarded by the Yeoman Warders or Beefeaters. They still wear the 16th century and colourful Tudor uniforms.
- Nowadays the Tower of London is a popular museum.
- You are right. You can see the National Collection of Armour here.
- What stories do you know about this place of interest?
- One of the stories is about two sons of Edward IV of England. They were placed in the Tower of London by their uncle, Richard III of England in 1483. They were killed there. Some Beefeaters saw their ghosts.
- Oh, it’s horrible! Can we go out?...
The last station is “Projects about the United Kingdom.” The teams present their own projects.
