Theme of the Lesson:

Database Development

Learning

Objectives

10.3.2.1 define data types in the database (SQL);

Lesson Objectives

-to know different data types in MySQL DBMS

- to know the purpose of the SQL and basic commands for executing queries.

Success

Criteria

Knowledge, understanding and applying

Students will be able to:

- name data type of MySQL DBMS

-giveexamples of fields and appropriate data types;

- explainthepurpose of SQL

- namebasiccommandto execute queries

Language

Objectives

Specific vocabulary and terminology:

Structured query language, query, DBMS, DB, local server, data types

Usefulphrasesforconversation / writing

For this field, you need to set data type ... because ...

MySQL DBMS is more suitable for development ... because

Whilechoosingadatatype … it will be impossible to save a record because

…. is used to create a query

Values

Instilled

Respect the opinions of others when discussing. Do not interrupt the speaker.

Imparting values is carried out through work in groups, self-search for answers

Problemsolving:

The slide shows various data. The teacher asks questions to the class and discusses the answers together.

1. What is the common between the given data? (Perhaps, data is about a person)

2. What is the difference between the given data? (They are presented in different forms and have different meanings, format)

3. Where and how is it convenient to store large amounts of data? (DB)

4. What do you need to develop a database? (DBMS)

Introduction lesson topic, objectives and discussion of assessment criteria.

Individualwork:Using the Internet, research data types which are used in MySQL.

Pay attention to data types:

CHAR, VARCHAR, TEXT, BOOL, TINYINT, INTEGER, FLOAT, DOUBLE, DATE, TIME DATETIME, TIMESTAMP, ENUM.

Students use the suggested links to research data types. If you don’t haveaccess tothe Internet, you can prepare a paper-based version of the handouts.

Formativeassessment: students match data types and examples of data on the board (if it is necessary, theycan do it on paper). The teacher focuses students’ attention on the importance of listening to each other. Justify their choice.

Self-assessment:

Theanswersarerepresentedontheboard(if it is necessary hand in). Учащиесяпроверяютрезультат, исправляютнедочеты.

Assessment criteria:

13-11 correct answers - excellent

10-8 correct answers - good enough

7-5 correct answers - I need to repeat

4 or less - there is a need to study

Pairwork -researching:

Students are divided into pairs. The teacher can divide students using data types and data examples using the HLAP method.

1. Learn what SQL is and what it is used for.

Researching in pairs. Using the resources of the global network, study the main types of queries.

Study the types of SQL queries and write queries to:

1. Delete all data from the table

2. Delete the existing table from the database

3. Select all data from the table.

4. Select a column with country names.

5. Sort all data by increasing population

6. Select the name of the country whose population density = 6.15

7. Add data about Kazakhstan to the table

Queries are written on A4 paper.

Peerassessment:pairs exchange answer sheets clockwise. The teacher displays the correct answer on the whiteboard.

Assessmentcriteria:

7-6 correct queries - excellent

5-4 correct queries- good

3 or less correct queries- I need support to understand queries.

Reflection«Lessonsummary»

Students write in the copybook answers to 3 questions:

1. What did I learn in class?

2. Where can I use this knowledge?

3. Do I have questions about the lesson? How do I manage with them?

Homework.

Install Denwer software on your home computer using video on the video hosting. Research the purpose and facilitiesof the local serverDenwer.

Reflection

Were the lesson objectives/learning objectives realistic? Did I stick to timings?

What changes did I make from my plan and why?

Did all learners achieve the LO?

Did my planned differentiation work well?

If not, why?

Summary Evaluation
