10.1.1.3 explain the main characteristics of a processor: capacity and clock speed

Assessment criteria

understands the role of the processor in managing

knows the characteristics of the processor

knows the purpose of the processor memory registers

knows and can determine the clock speed

Success criteria

All learners will be able to know:

Knows about main characteristic of CPU

Most learners will be able to know:

Knows about main characteristic of CPU

Can indicate the main elements of the CPU.

Some learners will be able to know:

Indicates the main elements of the CPU and explains the purpose of them

Language objectives

Learners can:

•Discuss new topic and represent result of researching.

Subject-specific vocabulary & terminology:

•CPU, clock speed, word length, bus width.

Useful set(s) of phrases for dialogue/writing:

We can increase CPU performance  if …

If you increase/reduce …, then …

Topic vocabulary and terminology:

Organizational moment:

Teacher:

-          I want (would) like to introduce today’s topic about …/ what you think what today’s topic is?

The presentation of the topic and lesson objectives.

Teacher discuss about previous topic and what is the cpu.

The teacher introduces students to the topic of the lesson, with the objectives of the training. Asks students to create success criteria for the LO by themselves.

Students write down the theme of the lesson on their copybooks.

Teacher give the task:

1)      Group work.

Purpose:  Explain the effect of clock speed, word length and bus width on performance

Description:

·         explain the effect of clock speed on performance

·         explain the effect of word length on performance

·         explain the effect of bus width on performance

Students divides into groups. Suggests researching new topic and representing their presentation. Students represent their slide show.

Check result of researching.

Name characteristics  which effect on CPU performance

Analyze how effect clock speed  on CPU performance

Analyze how effect word length on CPU performance

Analyze how effect bus width on CPU performance

Suggests finding answer on the difficult questions. Assess each other.

The end of the lesson

35 – 40

At the end of the lesson, learners reflect on their learning:

            What has been learned

            What remained unclear

            What needs more attention

Define own level of studying lesson’s theme

Differentiation – how do you plan to give more support? How do you plan to challenge the more able learners?

Assessment – how are you planning to check learners’ learning?

Health and safety check
ICT links

Differentiation can be expressed in the selection of tasks, in the expected result from a particular student, in providing individual support to the student, in selecting the educational material and resources, taking into account the individual abilities of the students (Theory of Multiple Intelligence by Gardner). Differentiation can be used at any stage of the lesson, taking into account the rational use of time.

Use this section to record the methods that you will use to assess what the students have learned during the lesson.

Health and safety check links.

Used active exercises.

Items applied from the Safety Rules in this lesson.

Reflection

Were the lesson objectives/learning objectives realistic? Did all learners achieve the LO?

If not, why?

Did my planned differentiation work well?

Did I stick to timings?

What changes did I make from my plan and why?

Use the space below to reflect on your lesson. Answer the most relevant questions from the box on the left about your lesson.

Summary evaluation

What two things went really well (consider both teaching and learning)?
